seems like a huge project just to alleviate traffic that only occurs 3 or 4 times a year
This ^ It's overkill for the 5 or so days a year it's a problem.

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

The Paradise Interchange and the Modbury Interchange must have the best frequencies for public transport in Adelaide. My guess there is a bus every 2 minutes during the day, and probably every 10 minutes at night, nowhere else in the metro area gets this level of service.... and how many people liv...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

There's quite a lot of food courts in the city these days, probably too many given the turnover rate of tenants. Chinatown plaza still hasn't opened, I assume it's because they can't find the tenants. There were a lot. Two have been closed recently. And as you point out, the refurbished china town ...

It would be nice if they restored the almost heritage sign. The previous tenants destroyed it.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Interestingly where the Chemist moved out, the corner store near the Gouger Street doors, a cafe has moved in. They were trading today. But are still scraping all the chemist related signage off the walls and windows. It's weird seeing a cafe operating amongst the bones of a chemist.

I thought I replied, must have not gone through or something.

It was dumb little joke about the signs on the core saying built. I should've been more clear on that.
LOL Okay we were all wondering if you were intending to share whatever it was you were on.

Several people have complained that the diagonals from the renders are missing in the building. This is not true. Perhaps they were looking at a picture on a small screen? The diagonals are definitely real... 20171227_072649.jpg (Thanks for verifying that the Google shared links timeout. Back to a b...

Mr Liang, a known visitor to Adelaide Casino, confirmed “no Datong funds have been used for anything other than Datong business”.
That's a strange little tidbit to insert into there. What are the Advertiser trying to say?

Overheard comment today.
The government shouldn't be in the business of building stuff like this. They should leave it up to the private sector.

Ok after seeing them today, my opinion is changing about those flappy th8ngs.
In person, you can form a different opinion because (breeze permitting) they are in motion. I like them, but I saw them in motion.

Also "flappy things" is the best technical description I have seen.

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway Revitalisation Projects

I walked through Topham Mall and Bank Street today just after 1pm. The floppy hanging things actually look good in the daytime with a breeze rustling through. Both malls had a busker (not sure if they were paid to be there or both decided to turn up). The atmosphere was good. The planters in Topham ...

Demolition of the concrete framed, three level building still underway. A tractor mounted jack hammer was being used this morning to remove some of the street level facade. Other than the street facing windows on upper levels this is just the substructure now, but still standing.

So what if you want to go for a swim ?

Get your gear off and have a dip in the polluted river torrens ?
I think you have grasped the wrong end of the proverbial. It's not about swimming at all. It's a space for lounging, sunning oneself, and so on. The paddle pool and sand are just the aesthetic.
