I am neither for nor against this development so I make this comment from a neutral position. What I find extraordinary is the actual planning process. Council I thought bought the site [you would think] to effectively control the outcome [and the height limit], then held consultation to deliver gui...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
I am guessing this may have something to do with it... Adelaide City Council will start selling a secret list of assets as it faces operating losses of almost $100m in four years. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/city/adelaide-city-council-to-sell-assets-including-beach-volleyball-court-and-...

[PRO] Re: [CAN] 10 Anzac Highway | Kaufland Supermarket
Yes its RenewalSA selling it now. I am guessing this way they can better control/veto what a developer does on the site and chose who they sell it to [so a sale is not just based on the price they achieve] for a theoretical better outcome. Some ideas I have heard in the past is a % for social/afford...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD
So it talks about the sale of “such a significant State-owned asset”. It’s a bit vague what will be for sale in the 6 hectare site. I would expect the ovals/public open space to be excluded from sale as public assets but could the character buildings be bought by the Crows or anyone else (or possibl...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I agree with the list/s but in reality do the marginal electorates go to the top of the list for Govt decisions/spending and/or more widely popular policies/spends made aka pork-barrelling? At the very least Infrastructure SA needs more of a voice/spokesperson to clearly prioritise projects with tra...

[COM] Re: Main North Road/Nottage Terrace Intersection Upgrade
You could use that argument about most overpasses/underpasses created, I mean where does it end? After dealing with this intersection the next set of traffic lights and intersection isn't far away.

[COM] Re: Main North Road/Nottage Terrace Intersection Upgrade
Probably an overpass [or underpass] is the ideal solution at a cost of only a few hundred million. The question is whether one will still be needed when traffic is worse in say 10- 20 years time and they should look at it now?

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
I agree.. they should just keep going and aim to finish the N-S Motorway in the next 5 years. I mean its only 5 kms more not 50 kms. Admittedly it will prob cost another $2.5bn, but you would think with this stop-start piecemeal approach it will cost far more & with record low interest rates bot...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I think land/housing affordability will be the biggest issue esp. for future generations of first homebuyers. Even with stage 1 of new developments some one hour from Adelaide, fully complete house and land packages are around the $500k and land around $500sqm. So what will prices be for later stage...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
If the Crows HQs moves to Bowden (vs Thebarton) a new tram extension/stop down Port Rd (between say Chief St and Milner St) could service this and also Hindmarsh stadium.
I would also like one more tram stop to AO but I have read that just the bridge would first need $50m spent for this to occur.

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
I have always thought if the rooms had balconies it would create a far better feel to staying there and help move the hotel past that 80s/90s vibe. The views are probably the best part of the hotel. I am not sure though if balconies could tastefully be added to the building or if the cost would be p...

Design for King William St hotel goes to State Commission Assessment Panel Planned for a very prominent intersection in the city centre, a 36-storey hotel must look the part. SA’s top architect isn’t quite convinced. The design for a 36-storey hotel on one of Adelaide’s most prominent locations need...

Re: (VIS) Hungry Jack's Carpark
With the current tenants on the ground floor (HJs, OTR etc), I would expect they would have many years to go on their leases. If this is the case the ACC would have to consider the potentially big payouts to terminate them prior.
