Re: CBD Development: General

A small observation if I may on the trend to larger floor plates. I think while I certainly understand the theory in not having 'accounts on level 11', there are distinct limits to the ability of large floor plates to resolve this - aside, of course, from the human element in organisational silos wh...

[CAN] Re: PRO: Former Merc on Gouger site | 14 levels | Apartments

Is it really correct that a project gets major project status because it's over the height limit for an area? Sounds a bit odd to me. Either way I agree it will be good to see - the original proposal on this site was going to be 5 or 6 levels from memory but quite monolithic on that huge site. Would...

[APP] Re: PRO| 399 King William Street | 46m | 15 LVS | Student Ap

I really like the picture shown from the sales office - less severe and concretey than I thought from the other pics and allowing for the normal 'idealisation' of renders/drawings, it has to beat what is there now... broken pavers used for a car park and whatever that little shop there is. Living an...

I can't see Isiskii's picture so apologies if it's very similar... photo doesn't really convey how imposing this crane looks in real life. Mobile phone photo unfortunately.

Re: CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise

Have to agree the development on the corner of Whitmore Sq there is awful to look at, but spare a thought for those of us who see it from 'behind'. This is a truly ugly building, as I watched it being constructed I found myself thinking 'that can't be how they are going to leave it' but I was wrong....

While I don't share the same concern re: car parks (since they are for the people living in the apartment tower) I do share concerns re: the size of this land relative to the proclaimed density of apartments, unless 'apartment' means student apartment (but then why have carparks?) but even then... g...

Must... stop... reading... AdelaideNow... comments... section... [aaarrgh] Even after all these years, I can't get over the nature of many of the comments on this story in today's news: - it's too tall, everything in Paris is 6 stories high (huh? Thank you Will for background on how this is panning out. I will be seriously pleased if it gets approval and hopefully proceeds. I really like the cut of this building's jib!

Just noticed tonight as I drove past this building has some awesome night-time lighting effects going on, including what I presume are neons (purple) running up the length of the building. Very nice!

An article in today's Advertiser (Page 27, Business Monthly) clarifies the situation. This building appears to have been cancelled but the bank is looking for an alternative NEW building option - the article mentions the Harris Scarfe redevelopment, Wakefield St Kambitsis development and Franklin St...

PJK1 I agree entirely. I'm a little bit taken aback by the resistance to this proposal. To me, it's an innovative use of a very limited site and frankly, it will liven up what looks like a very moribund corridor along there. I don't think it's fair to complain about lack of windows or whatever when ...

Like many others, I will be interested to see how this proceeds and how it blends (in real life) with what is there. Also, I am not a lawyer but I think talking on a public forum about donations being made in order to facilitate planning approval might be a little bit unwise unless you have evidence...

I welcome this development. Even if the ratio of public transport use to total transport in the city area is increasing, if the overall numbers of people in the city are also increasing, you need additional car parking. Yes, we can argue all day about what is aesthetically better or how we might pre...

Re: CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise

The best (worst?) thing about this new showroom is that it appears to have 3 permanent 'aircraft warning' lights flashing on its roof at night. Not what you expect on a 4 storey structure, even if is on West Terrace and presumably in line of sight to the airport. Happy to see West Terrace being turn...
