Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
“Despite the current challenges, and wider economic slowdown in Australia, the Adelaide CBD will outperform in the coming years, backed by solid economic fundamentals and sound government,” he said. “South Australia has proven to be an attractive investment market for smart offshore capital, and we...

Re: Discussion: 20-Year State Infrastructure Strategy
The list is drawn from the Capital Intentions Statement. The Capital Intentions Statement is a five-year rolling annual plan that identifies specific major projects or programs (generally over $50 million) to be undertaken as a priority in South Australia. It's the part that is supposed to be readil...

Re: SA Economy
Woomera is a brilliant site for what it was built for . It is the world's largest instrumented range, so an ideal place to launch things when you want to watch what they do during the first minutes after launch, and find the pieces afterwards for analysis. It has several thousand kilometres of mostl...

Re: SA Economy
@Rev, you complain that other people should think outside of the box, but then sit inside your own box. SA doesn't have to copy other places, it could do something that nobody is doing yet. Australia is not a great place to build large heavy objects for a world market - they cost too much to transpo...

Re: SA Economy
It's called tarrifs. Why do goods manufactured with cheap labour overseas still cost what they did when manufactured here? Corporations just want to make more profit. You the consumer still pay. Thousands of manufacturing job have returned to America since 2010 after the 2008 financial crisis. Appl...

The headline of the article linked a page or so back is "Tender released for early works on final section of North-South Corridor" dated yesterday, , but the text of the story is really about the appointment of Susana Fueyo as Executive Director of the North-South Corridor Program Delivery...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Yes Virgin have to pay reportedly $10-15 million per year to use the Virgin "brand". That is the first thing the new owners of Virgin will drop...the name. There is probably no room in the Australian market for a full price Qantas competitor (with their own cut price airline to compete wi...

This was one of their main election promises. They've been in power for 2 years touting how they're going to build a tunnel (or two separate tunnels) and they're only just now appointing geological experts? What have they been doing for the last 2 years? I guess there are a number of stages. Design...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
I would just like to point out that SANTOS is not "packing up and leaving". It is merely shifting staff around the country, and the number of people employed in the Adelaide office(s) will remain the same. They will just be different staff. I also doubt that SANTOS will be the tenant here...

[COM] Re: M2 Northern Connector | 15.5km | $867m
If four tunnel boring machines are used, a tunnel from T2T to Darlington could be constructed in about eighteen months. Reading up on roadheads, which were used for Melbourne's Burnley and Domain Tunnels, this might be a better option. What are roadheads? Is the dirt/rock under the North South Corr...

[U/C] Re: Magill/Portrush Road Intersection Upgrade | $98m
A tunnel from north of Magill Road intersection to south of Greenhill Road intersection would work better But that is a massively expensive tunnel that is not at all close to the budget for this project. This gets a few driveways off a major road that should have never had driveways on it to begin ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Does anyone have official statistics on what percentage of the metropolitan population works or studies in the CBD? What is the average commute distance for CBD workers? I live and work in outer suburbs, so my perspective is probably skewed, I think I know more people who commute from or across the...
