Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Cross Road/Marion Road followed by South Road followed by the Seaford/Flinders/Belair line. Three bunny hops in a row. I almost wonder if it would be better to just raise up the section of tramline between Cross Road and Goodwood station and enable even more roads to go underneath. The only level c...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The Seaford extension should’ve been Phase 1 of a two-phase extension all the way to Aldinga. As the Seaford phase wound down, shift the same crews straight over to the next section. Now 10 years and 1 week later we still don’t have rail to Aldinga and the Seaford extension was the last significant ...

drove past here today... absolutely zero activity on this site...nothing there at all other than a fence.

I don't think this is going to happen any time soon.
It’s been that way for months

Same mentality kept the level crossing in Croydon too.
IIRC one argument was that it would disrupt the quiet street atmosphere, but it was hard to hear it over the boom gate bells ringing every 5-10 minutes

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

My inference is that they wanted to appease locals despite wider benefits, similar to the Hove situation. I'd rather governments make the case clear for such projects. The problem with the anti-Hove mob was that they had almost no valid arguments beyond disruption to the people being relocated. &qu...

In 2018 Labor was very clear that a big motivator for the chosen City Link route was exactly what you say, to stimulate development in the city. Did they end up actually choosing a desired route? Last I recalled they had three options for a city tram loop before the 2018 election but their being vo...

Our state governor is now going to be on $495,754 per year. In 2021, the governor was on $351,015. A review at the time found it was lower then other state governors. So in a bid to keep up with other state governors, the state Remuneration Tribunal has increase the governors salary by $140,000 in ...

Sounds like any public release of designs for a second tower are a while off: https://www.indaily.com.au/news/2024/02 ... laza-tower
Do we need a second tower?

SkyCity Adelaide will be reopening their original 'Heritage Entrance' on Station Rd from Monday Feb 19, which will be replacing their North Tce entrance. I never even realised the Station Rd entrance had been closed. Is the North Tce entrance is going to be permanently closed? Any word on what’s go...

Also, imagine failing so hard at the planning of this project that a rail station isn't even considered as part of it. Agreed. Both a tram stop near the main entrance and a railway station to the immediate north of the Port Road bridge would ensure that the entirety of ‘BioMed City’ is easily acces...

The massive redevelopment of Event Cinemas is now underway. Vmax cinemas currently being refitted along with a few others with the rest to follow. Gold Class and Candy Bar areas will also be completely gutted and rebuilt in the next year or two. Didn't even know this was happening. Is there more in...

The photo in the article shows an Adelaide Metro railcar, but no where has anyone said that's what struck him. There's also the ARTC track there and goods trains take a lot longer to stop.
An electric AdMet train was involved

Very sad news. But why that particular spot?
The tracks are on a curve and trains are traveling at speed since most don't stop at North Adelaide station. Drivers can't see anything until it's too late.

Next step, I'd like to see this turned into a terminus for trains to Dry Creek as well via the now disused goods line.
Would’ve be easier to convert in future if they hadn’t dumped a load of earth between Russell Street and the mainline junction
