Re: Bike storage in city developments

It's something I have brought up with the strata, but was told that even though the issue has come up a few times, they never relax by-laws (or seems, even question them). They'll mention something to the management committee but "space is a premium". The insinuation is why can't I just do...

Re: Bike storage in city developments

Oh wow. Do you know when those requirements were brought in fast_forward? My building is 4 years old, so still relatively new - but maybe not new enough.

And thanks AtD, good idea to ask David. I'll send him an email or message about it.

Re: Bike storage in city developments

I could dream of 8 bike racks. I'm on Halifax St, and our apartments have 0 bike racks (and a by-law prohibiting taking bikes into your apartment, as well as in the lift or in any common space barring the carpark). Which is my reason for asking this. (I'm sure there's a minimum requirement for new a...

News & Discussion: CBD Living

I remember there being talk in a thread a while ago about the requirements for bicycle storage in new city residential developments, but can't for the life of me find it (Search hasn't help). Does anyone recall where it was (or at least, know the requirements)? Cheers. (Mods: feel free to move the t...

I hope that's not the case. It could be being revised, as they do have projects that did not proceed in their portfolio (meaning whether it is on the site or not isn't necessary an indicator of it's status).

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line

But how many people would realistically need to go from the far south to the far north of the city? I'd imagine it would be a small minority - certainly not enough to justify a direct line in between.

Re: Adelaide's Public Transport digital future?

I was actually quite annoyed during a recent trip to Melbourne, to find that they haven't added their tram network to Google Maps yet, and had to go to the tourist information centre in Fed Square to work out which one I needed to catch. Buy a Melway, it's valuable for many more reasons too 8) I sh...

Re: Adelaide's Public Transport digital future?

One area where Adelaide is doing quite well is in using google maps for public transport journey planning. Forget about jnomad, install google maps mobile (or get an android or iphone) and journey planning is at your fingertips anywhere where you are (and you have 3g) Definitely. I've come to rely ...

[COM] Re: #COM: Rundle Lantern

I thought something was up when I went past the lantern last week: AN INTERSTATE computing expert is being flown into Adelaide to fix "bugs" that jammed the $2 million Rundle Lantern in the middle of Fringe celebrations. The Lantern was opened in October as the "the city's new cultura...

I'm digging this as well, and agree that it's a welcome change from the generic glass boxes. I think the quality of the finish on the yellow panels is what is going to make all the difference, so hopefully they don't cheap out on that.

[COM] Re: #APP: Globe Apartments | 50m | 15lvls | Student

Such a shame. The building is hideous and a wasted opportunity. That block (the whole synagogue pl, north tce, pulteney st, rundle st block) should be far better utilised than it is. I've always felt it would be the perfect if the majority of buildings, with exception to the older rundle st facing o...
