[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Doesn't this plan kind of go against the Libs rhetoric from when they were in the opposition? Liberals don't seem to have much of a plan for anything, their main successes have been executing the former Labor governments plans. This is not necessarily a bad thing, and in that respect I am far more ...

I spoke too soon - great to see that Adelaide will spearhead the new-format Virgin lounges!

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Both lounges should be located on a separate third level, this should have been the case when they build the new terminal... They're currently extending the terminal with part of the new building going towards a foodcourt/retail area when they could have built a new Qantas Club upstairs and the are...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Really difficult to understand how they get those rankings, I fly a lot through a number of airports on this list, while Adelaide may not have the same level of amenities (both lounges could do with an update - virgin could use more space, Qantas less space but better appointed) it is fantastic at g...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I cannot even begin to understand the mentality of the people who talk-down about Adelaide oval as being "not complete" and "not the same standard as Optus" etc. Either you have not traveled the world and its sporting stadia extensively or you are infected by the SA "everyth...

Re: News & Discussion : New Restaurants, Bars & Night Clubs

Fantastic news! Restaurants have proven successful in similar buildings around the world and it's nice to have another pre show or pre game option. Most importantly, it's great to see some of the grandeur of the station concourse restored. Personally, I'd love to see the Marble Hall/waiting lobby r...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

The interstate-based developer doesn't give two sh*ts about the Port or SA, they just want to make a profit and without a strong guiding hand by a public-interest authority sh*t is all we will get. Thankfully the woolsheds are still banked for when we get are act together and develop a proper maste...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

This: I think it's great it's being torn down. Equals this: The whole area is a wasted opportunity and will be nothing but boring suburbia. Bring on the residential development, but retaining the heritage features and vibe of the Port are the only way to avoid another soulless suburb of ticky tacky...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

Like I said, the majority of people are content with being average. They are content with Adelaide being a big country town, while other cities leave us in their dust. Unfortunately everyone from business leaders to political leaders are content to sit back protecting their existing status quo. The...

Shame.

I hope that whatever replaces it mimics the sawtooth roof.
From the latest plans looks like it will be high-density, low-quality modern box future-ghetto residential apartment blocks with no redeeming architectural merit. Fantastic.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

Haven't been to Perth stadium, but I have been to Marvel, and it's trash compared to AO. I've sat in every stand at AO since the rebuild for either football, soccer, or cricket, and never had an issue seeing all of the playing area from my seat, and I'm talking after they rejigged the cricket membe...

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Yeah, metal and asbestos. Can fix asbestos. Newport quays and now "dock one" both look like generic suburban density projects which will age terribly and our children will curse us for destroying the Port Heritage and building such crap, much as we lament the generations before us for rip...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

The whole idea of IA is to sift out the uneconomic schemes. if only that was how they operated in practice. Morisson coming in through a spanner in the works as if Turnball was still here it almost certainly would have been announced. Will be interesting to see what a Fed Labor government do.

Re: Mad March 2019

This year was the most fun I have had yet. Clipsal (sorry 'superloop') weekend to the end of Womad weekend was amazing. I am struggling to think of other places/ events/ festivals that I have been to anywhere overseas let alone Australia that have such an eclectic and interesting variety of people a...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

With the T20 World Cup in Oct 20 what’s the chances they will announce a tram extension to AO and ready by then? I recall reading somewhere that extensive re-work of the King William street bridge would be needed to run trams over it due to modern engineering standards and hence why it stopped shor...
