Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
And will I still be able to put a 28 day pass on a credit card? I presume this will work because your credit card acts a a pseudo MetroCard......but what if it doesn't work? In Sydney they do not have transport passes, all transactions are a " one off payment". The easy option would be to...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
Please don't get rid of MetroCard... 1) Not everybody has a credit card to use on public transport 2) Nor will banks give credit cards to every person in society....some are too young, some are too old, some are an extremely poor credit risk 3) International tourists credit cards would not necessar...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
I think I've read before that credit card payments will be implemented eventually too... avoids the need for metrocards entirely and makes it more accessible for less frequent users who don't bother carrying around a metrocard. Would make sense to bring that in at the same time as single tickets get...

[COM] Re: Flinders Rail Link
I think it's still due to have a sort of cover over the bridge which will provide shade for the pedestrian link and also look a bit nicer when you're driving over.

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium
Adelaide Oval may never meet FIFA standards unless some big coin changes hands. Thinking outside the square for World Cup though... a rogue move might be to carefully remove AO's top soil and drop the oval surface down 10metres, then add 28,000 seats around the perimeter of the pit, lay a rectangul...

Yeah okay - interesting. Still I'd like to see the arrester bed v short south options both properly considered and costed in the next couple of years.

Re: News & Discussion: Other Transport Projects
You are referring to this plan, correct? https://i.ibb.co/DYy3Q67/d4b422872c83d376bf53ee7c1bc7e83b.jpg I guess in some ways this isn't much different to upgrading Cross Road except that it avoids lots of problems like the massive amount of compulsory aquisition that a Cross Road upgrade would requir...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Transport Projects
Report makes interesting reading... Shame they didn't seem to consider the SA Freight Council's south-east link idea (connecting the SE Freeway to the N-S Motorway via Brownhill Creek route)... which was obviously only put forward recently but it's my favourite of the options so far It's fairly sim...

[VIS] Re: Interstate Trains at Adelaide Railway Station
It'd be great to see an underground link for suburban trains. I agree that a loop is not really what we should be thinking about - the simple option would be to connect the Gawler line to the Seaford line and then connect the Outer Harbour line to the Belair line, and make journeys through the CBD n...

Well done to whoever threw this idea out there a few pages back... https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/east-hills/sa-freight-council-calls-for-tunnel-under-springfield-foothills-to-funnel-trucks-from-the-freeway-to-south-rd/news-story/daa69448b14cd9a02f31105977c1f0b5 https://cdn.newsapi.com.au/...

Sounds like the announcement is really just about the money being put aside, and no closer to finding out what the final solution will be. I'd think they would end up going with a bit of a hybrid with some sections being a trench and a few tunnels in particularly tricky areas? Just hope they think c...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I don't think there will be a double track at Clovelly Park anymore, the existing setup seems to be good enough for DPTI. I only say double track because that's what the most recent render proposal showed. But regardless, a new station on the other side of Alawoona Avenue is needed. Hopefully the p...

Re: Flinders University - Developments & News
I'd suggest a short gondola lift or aerial tram à la Portland's OHSU rather than trying to engineer the rail there. Yep. The obsession with always planning for some sort of utopian future is going a bit far here... they probably have no expectation that the line will be extended in the next century...
