Re: News & Developments: Tonsley
Was this article the other day too... sounds like construction on the boilerhouse / retail precinct will all get underway later in the year :applause: Work to start on $3m microbrewery at Tonsley NOVEMBER 13, 2017 Work will start in July on a $3 million plan to turn Tonsley’s former boiler house to ...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway
Is that diagram implying there won't be an upgrade to the Cross Road / South Road intersection? Would be a great shame - desperately needs an upgrade which includes grade seperation of the train line

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Fantastic... about time. Always such a joke when a tram of 80 people gets held up by one guy waiting for the light to go orange to turn right... Plenty of complainers on the Advertiser website about right hand turns being removed, I don't think it's a big deal, but I wonder if they would consider ho...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade
Would be interesting to see if this is affected by plans for the CBD Rail loop...
Like the spot though, and would be great for an indoor arena. Hopefully it'd be integrated with a Western exit to the railway station. Need a soccer specific stadium somewhere in the area too though I reckon.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
They'd have to be building a metro under Flinders Uni or something to warrant duplicating the line so not really ever going to be on the cards I don't think

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
If demand warranted a 10 min service frequency in the future (which I can only see happening once a CBD rail tunnel is built), it would be quite easy and inexpensive to double track the Tonsley line between the Mitchell Park station until just before the start of the overpass over Sturt Rd. There w...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
There was some talk a year or so ago about a Light rail following the OH line into the city as far as War Memorial Drive, then going along War Memorial Drive past Adelaide Oval and south down King William Road right? That would be a fairly fast route.

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
On railway lines with level crossings, speed is limited to 160 km/h. I can't see any reason we couldn't run tilt trains at this speed on most of the track. At this speed, Adelaide to Melbourne is only 4 hours 31 minutes. Let's add in speed restrictions and a handful of stops, I think 5 hours 30 min...

[COM] Re: The Bend Motorsport Park
Would love to see some nice hills built up around the track / trees on the hills - nice spectator friendly areas to sit and watch racing with some natural shade. After attending the First V8 event at The Bend , this is one top-notch circuit. The track can easily be view from the large viewing mound...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
I’d say that would certainly be a question. Speed is important - got to be able to get to Melbourne faster than you can drive there.
I’d say you would just want stops at Adelaide, Aldgate (?), Murray Bridge, Keith, Bordertown, Nhill, Horsham, Ararat, Ballarat...?

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
There are two things that give me hope for the future of the overland at the moment... 1. For the first time, Bombardier are designing and building Standard-gauge Velocity trains. Residents on the Victorian North East line (Albury etc.) have been pushing for this for a while. Sorry this article’s be...

[COM] Re: The Bend Motorsport Park
I wonder if, for something like a once off to Tailem Bend for race days, it would make more sense for the train to pick passengers up from somewhere like Goodwood station. Already a platform there (disused) for the SG line, can connect with Seaford / Tonsley / Belair lines there....?

Re: U/C: Tonsley Park Redevelopment | $1b
Good to see some grass and trees. Hopefully there is also a few cafes restaurants and retail. Pity the majority of the site not like this. The Tafe should have been multi storey too. Couple of little cafes in the Flinders hub area so far. Apparently there's a hope to turn the old boiler shed at the...
