Re: News & Discussion: Buses

Yeah Torrens Transit has a nasty, nasty habit of running those buses on my route right on peak hour. Meanwhile I get the 100 to work two days a week and often get an articulated bus. On a route where even in the middle of morning peak there's very rarely more than 10 people aboard... In peak hour, ...

Oh I see that we've covered that. Guess it shows that I don't come to the East End daily like I used to before I started working out in the suburbs!

[PRO] Re: 292-300 Rundle Street | 63m | 20 Levels | Mixed Use

Too tall for some peoples liking, they are scared that someone might look out their window and see them eating a frog cake on Rundle St on a Saturday night. If you can't see what some people's problem is with the height of this building in this pocket of the city then you're completely delusional. ...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

State heritage stuff on South Road between the Torrens and the Southern Expy for the curious: The Society of Magicians -if you're familiar with the area it's the underground bunker there (corner Ashley St, West side of road) Thebarton Theatre/old Thebarton council offices (cnr Henley Beach, W) Adela...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Yep, well what I should've said is..... if we do this then do it properly. A 20,000 seat stadium to house netball, tennis show court, soccer and rugby stadium. With a retractable roof. Plus will also accommodate these international acts, that are mostly by-passing Adelaide due to lack of demand, no...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Seems to me like the logical way of fixing it would be to split it - one route keeps going down Regency past South Road and runs down the sidestreets that roughly line up with Harrison Road, then the other continues down Days Road and then down Torrens. Google Maps reckons the corner of Pym Street a...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I'd venture that the revenue the government gets from the AEC car park is far, far greater than what they'd gain by charging $3 or so for the ride whilst scaring off all the people who've decided they've stumbled upon the best scam ever.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Regarding fares and the lack of from the trams. The sooner the Adelaide completes a city loop, the sooner we can adopt a system similar to Melbourne with a free city loop and then start charging for the Entertainment Centre right through to Glenelg... If you do this you're gonna see ridership on th...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I agree Claybro. A tram to North Adelaide, Norwood or elsewhere other than the CBD will make it more attractive to visit those areas. I don't go to Glenelg often, but when I do, it's because the tram takes me there. There's an accessibility factor about trams that buses can't match. Glenelg would b...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

As an aside I'd be interested to see what they do as far as entrances. As it stands now the space Foodland is going in has three entrances (Pulteney, Rundle and Hindmarsh) and supermarkets really don't like that as a whole thing - see the side door to the Coles in the Market leading to the Arcade th...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

I don't fully understand how the shape of it will work when all is said and done but from what I can tell the shopfronts with mall frontage (Telstra -> Suncorp, Maccas, Westpac, Nike) are staying and everything else (the Pulteney fronting stores, the stores in the arcade, the food court) is being gu...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

The new Telstra shop in Rundle Mall (the old BankSA) is almost ready for opening, the store has been entirely fit out and the front facade has had a minor facelift. Begs the question as to whether they will close their City X shopfront... When I went past yesterday they had signs in the window sayi...

Was walking around the East End tonight and I noticed the Stag was closed... I assume the people running it went broke again?
