[COM] Re: Rundle Mall Redevelopment | $30m

I was thinking that the weather wasn't helping too, although the colour choice for the lights makes them stick out more than silver and the cabling's thicker than I expected. Still, I'm sure once it's up and running people will get used to it and consider it less conspicuous. I'm already used to tho...

Drove past today. I'm really trying to stay positive about the eventual end result, but it's getting harder. It all looks pretty cumbersome and intrusive.

Nice job, H1ghlifie, but yeah, blame the developers not the architects.

Hassell's more than capable of coming up with interesting designs:

They're only as good as their design and costing brief from the developers though.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment

Build a northern stand and what makes AO so special goes. It should never happen. If/when the time comes, I would look at ways of expanding the western stand. If the capacity got around 58,000 it would be more than enough. Being at capacity a few times a year does not necessitate new stands. Tickets...

Apparently there were also questions about whether certain buildings could hold the weight of the lighting system, so the re-design is not just because of failures to obtain building owners' consent.

[COM] Re: #Vis: Festival Plaza Redevelopment $800m

For that location, I'm hoping that's very much a concept render to show bulk and scaling. I think it's pretty obvious that that's exactly what it is. I expect that it is, but I wouldn't say it's obvious. Walker's won the tender as the developer, so it's not your usual tender package concept drawing...

For that location, I'm hoping that's very much a concept render to show bulk and scaling. Last thing you'd want there is the poster child for uninspiring glass boxes.

[COM] Re: #U/C: Victoria Square Upgrade - $24m

Does anyone else have the nagging feeling that the plane trees in the event space are misplaced? I can't help thinking that aesthetically and practically they would have been better planted into the promenade level. Other than that, good to hear the fountain's back up and spouting. I think the firs...

[COM] Re: U/C: 1 King William St | Facade Upgrade | $12m

I've read somewhere that they did it because the original facade wasn't holding up well, so the over-cladding is more there for containment. Doesn't affect questions about their choice of materials, the look they're going for etc., but they didn't just do it to give the building a makeover.

[CAN] Re: PRO: New Courts Precinct | $500m

It's a Court building that, most likely for security reasons, they're not mixing with offices, so I can't see it even going close to 30 levels. They'll build as many as they need with provision for a bit of future-proofing. I'm fine with it being mid-rise, but am holding out hope that we get somethi...
