[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Would bring much joy if they considered the Bjarke Ingels Group and JPE Design Studio Contemporary submission for use as the Indigenous Gallery/Museum. Design is best represented in this video... https://vimeo.com/264263011 The image of the proposed gallery released by the Liberal Party ahead of la...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Our art gallery is fantastic, but it's just small! I have absolutely no insider knowledge of it but I can't help thinking that most of the collection must be in storage. The website says "The Art Gallery of South Australia has one of the largest art museum collections in Australia, comprising ...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

I gotta say I am liking the idea of an indigenous art gallery more and more (especially now that Darwin proposal seems to be going nowhere) There are plenty of other contemporary art galleries around the country (or on the drawing boards) so 'something different" is called for if Adelaide want...

Re: SA Economy

It seems Adelaide is hot property right now, values rising while much of the country is falling.

btw, has anyone informed the ACC about this?
They, and APPA as well, seem awfully quiet about this parklands construction project....
Haha, funny.

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

$10m just to build a roof that will only get demolished in Stage 2? This Liberal Government cries service cuts and budget deficits and then blows $50m of our cash on vanity projects that serve no real return to the taxpayer. Ummmm, where did anyone say the roof will be demolished for stage 2? $10 m...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I think the figures are the AO/the stadium needs $2m a year for on-going maintenance costs [& rising every year]. Based on say 22 days for AFL games, 7 days for Strikers home games, 1 day for A league add say 22 days for everything else - test/limited overs cricket/concerts/events/any finals so...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I found it laughable when the SMA said they were needing to find other revenue streams in order to make it more affordable for ppl to go to the footy/cricket. I for one will definitely be putting the microscope on ticket/food/drink prices if and when this hotel gets built. Maybe they said it as a su...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I'm surprised by the comments above. AO is without doubt the best looking stadium in Australia, it's clam-shell design is unique. The gaps between the stands that house the big screens is also different to the norm. Throw in the hill and old scoreboard and it's almost perfect. It's not your typical ...

[COM] Re: Masters Adelaide Airport

In today’s paper there was a call for tenders (by Pike builders) for a Bunnings conversion at Adelaide Airport. I can only assume this is the old Masters site. The big question is will it mean anything for the Bunnings site at Mile End? Also is there any news on the rejected Bunnings site at Panora...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

Whether or not I like the design is irrelevant to me, this is just a plain weird idea. Who is it aimed at??? ....the footy corporate, the well heeled cricket tragic, or perhaps the teams themselves. That's all I can think of.... you can guarantee it won't be cheap. Not to mention, there's already a ...

Since the 80's we've gone from 13 Federal seat to 10 now! Do I have a solution? No. Well beyond my powers. My best response is to stay here when I'm happy. I believe our population has still grown, just not as fast as other places so the lower house seat allocation has changed. Correct. By Western ...

Let me be clear. I'm not being negative, just being a realist. Our population growth is dismal compared to the rest of mainland Australia. If it wasn't for overseas migration (inflated by federal policies) then SA would actually be in decline. We have more ppl leaving than we gain, have done for the...
