[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

I think what we will find soon enough is that the location of the new RAH has been a big mistake as far as "activating" the riverbank precinct. There's a nightclub that will be closing in the not too distant future because the hospital will be opening in 2016. Good luck creating nightlife...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

The existing RAH and nightlife have been able to co-exist — you have the Botanic Hotel immediately across the road (with restaurants as well), plus PJ O'Briens & The Elephant less than half a block away, and then of course Rundle St. Obviously the Newmarket portion of the site will stay (it's h...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

I don't want to be negative but can someone please explain.......... why do we need a brand new world class tennis stadium with a retractable roof when the only tournament which is played at Memorial drive is the World tennis challenge which is not overly popular ??? The state government is spendin...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

If the Memorial Drive tennis stadium is upgraded it should be from the ground up. No patch up jobs! No half measures like the Adelaide Oval where the stadium was built in halves or worse still like Football Park! The northern stand I think is heritage listed, however if you want a world-class stadi...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Yep, took a closer look.....yes you are right, there appears to be a small covered walkway..... that doesn't make it all the way to the terminal building and it looks very narrow and open to the weather. I still am of the sentiment "not good enough". It's just an artists impression. But w...

Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 9

There was quite a few flat bed semis this morning going up Flinders street carrying components for a crane.
They just pull one down or they setting one up?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

I just dearly hope they'll be wiser with their plans for public transport options. I guess I'm the only one whose noticed what appears to be a tram coming in near the roundabout at the bottom and a tram stop just before the terminal in that artists impression. http://resources0.news.com.au/images/2...

Re: Bizarre Summer Weather

A downpour after a bushfire is not bizarre. We just haven't had a big bushfire near Adelaide in a long time for anyone to actually remember what it's like.
It rained after Ash Wednesday btw.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Surprised nobody posted this yet..Park Terrace and part of Torrens Road near the intersection will be widened as part of the South Road upgrades so local roads can cope during construction of Torrens to Torrens. Park Terrace will be 3 lanes each direction.

Re: Beer Garden

Buying hotels and wineries isn't going to counter the closure of Holden and dozens of parts suppliers. That's not the sort of foreign investment that should be targeted. What they should be doing is coming up with viable projects that create jobs, new industries for high and advanced technologies, e...

Re: Bizarre Summer Weather

What's so bizarre about it?
Hot weather followed by a thunder storm in summer is not unusual for Adelaide.

Re: I'm off to Queensland!

Have a good time up there.
A mate recently left for Queensland, he's in Brisbane. He's loving it, and contrary to what others say, he wont be coming back.
More work more money.
