Re: News & Discussion: Cycling
Did anyone hear about this story over the new year? https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/oslo-cut-road-deaths-to-one-in-2019-can-sydney-do-the-same-20200111-p53qmz.html Adelaide and Oslo obviously have their own unique aspects, but they really aren't that different either. The greater metropolitan ar...

Have there been any renders of the side walls yet? I really hope they don't just leave them as raw concrete.

The front of the building looks great, but is any one else not such a fan of the white panels they are using on the north and western sides? (Possibly the eastern side too, haven't really had a chance to view it form that vantage point yet). Hopefully more of a pattern will emerge the higher it gets...

Looks fantastic, and so much better than that original render.

Too bad the swiss cheese building didn't have this type of cladding- it would have looked fantastic.

Looks a lot better than what I was expecting. Really liking all of the different elements and variation within the design.

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade
I have loved the tennis, but I completely disagree that the upgraded centre court is adequate for an ATP 250 event, and even less so for a WTA premier event. I have been almost every night this week and there is an entire section of the southern stand that has yet to have anyone sitting there. Becau...

I probably would have agreed with you Patrick if it had been a bulkier design but I love the look of the slimmer tower, and I think it is set back enough not to take away from Federal Hall. I am always slightly sceptical of any development that relies on so much greenery as past experience shows the...

Speaking of Westpac, it is amazing how much more of an impression that Adelaidean makes at ground level on Frome Road compared to what Westpac does on King William. It makes sense given that Wetspac doesn't directly front a main road, but even so I didn't expect the difference to feel quite that pro...

Not sure if it is taller than 132 metres or not, but from a distance it still looks like it might maintain at least the perception of being taller to me.

Agreed. it reminds me a little bit of Bohem, which is definitely not a compliment.thecityguy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2019 9:33 amIMO this sucks big time. Kinda thought this location being near the east end might have been a bit higher quality

Besides trying to fulfill an incredibly restricted budget, the only other thing I can think of is that they were trying to go for the faux sandstone look to compliment the heritage? Big fail on that one and regardless of the intent it looks shit. The nicest thing I have to say about it is that I dis...

It also looks pretty good when viewed from the other side of the river. Ideally I'd love to get rid of buildings like the Stamford Plaza and (to a lesser extent) the Intercontinental, but if not then at least this building offers a bit of a contrast to them.

Possibly, but personally I think the contrast would work very well. Perhaps not so much with the residents though.
