Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
There's soil contamination at the brewery site. I'm not entirely sure of the extent but this would have an impact on re-routing the river.
And it would be a massive amount of dirt that would need to be moved..

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
20 per cent affordable housing is too low a dividend for this level of state investment. We need 30-50 per cent. Also I'm probably alone, but they've mentioned keeping the Torrens xmas garden as is, whereas I'd rather hoped they'd reimagine the whole interface of the river with the precinct. But ca...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
Speaking ahead of the announcement, opposition leader David Speirs said it was a "really worrying development" and that "interfering in market-led processes" would drive up prices. "It's the sort of socialist intervention that you'd expect from an eastern European communist...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment
A tram depot could easily be built at ground level and apartments built over the top. I am sure its been done elsewhere in thew world Without taking the thread too far off topic, is there a reason the Glengowrie depot can't be expanded? There's a fairly large amount of vacant land between the depot...

JB HiFi has moved to the old Best & Less location.
Their old store has been gutted and is being expanded into the carpark. A major international brand will be opening in the space in early-mid 2024. It'll be their second Adelaide store.

Apparently Bunnings are temporarily moving into the Masters building at Noarlunga. The current Bunnings building will be demolished and rebuilt before they eventually move back into the rebuilt store.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Urban Sprawl & Density
Renewal SA superinjected with government funding to secure the sites and kick off development, just as this state did in the post-war period under Playford. Also needs a cultural change at RenewalSA to stick to their guns over long term projects. When they have secured a site and plan greater densi...

Absolutely disgusting. I'm utterly speechless by the comments he's making. All he's doing is kicking the can down the road.

Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway
Aside for the lining repairs (is it that critical?) the other stuff is just bells and whistles on what is already a highly engineered very short tunnel. I would have thought there were more pressing road projects to address. Can't help but agree. How often are the tunnels closed that boom gates are...

Does it beat the former Southern Cross Arcade site? 60 King William St has smaller floors but it has 15 floors. I was going to say, the Harris Scarfe/BendigoAdelaide development would come close. Very rough Google Maps area calculations. Adelaide Oval (Southern, Eastern and Hill Stands) 18,800m2 Ad...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
How would you deal with the 47 street crossings of the Port Road median between the Entertainment Centre and Port Adelaide station? Put the trams in a trench. But then you would have overhead wires at Port Road Street level which could be unsafe so make the trams wireless. But also the trench would...
