[COM] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel

I haven't even seen the water cascade actually have running water in it this year My understanding was that in 2014 after construction the bridge and environs were handed over to the City Council for maintenance and repair. Totally agree one of the things we are not good at in Adelaide is looking a...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Rather than waffling on about trackless trams and on-demand buses the best thing Knoll could do would be to head across the Nullarbor to Perth for a few days - probably the most comparable city to Adelaide in terms of climate, geography and density - and study government owned and run Transperth. It...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy

Some things never really actually change in South Australia - since 1994, Adelaide's public transport has been under various guises including the State Transport Authority (STA), TransAdelaide, the Passenger Transport Board, Adelaide Metro, DPTI and now SAPTA. Meanwhile Adelaide's overall transport ...

[COM] Re: Oaklands Crossing | $174m

Thanks Norman for all these pics. I think to give DPTI credit these new "super stations" (Bowden, Adelaide Showgrounds, and the earlier completed Gawler line ones like Elizabeth and Munno Para) look great and give a feel to how all of Adelaide's rail system could look if other key stations...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Thanks Norman. Living abroad it can be frustrating trying to find out information about these projects- googling finds very little about timelines and start dates. The Flinders link project I'm pretty sure was first promised in 2014 and yet here we are heading towards mid 2019 and there's still no s...

Re: Andy Welsh's post on Gresham Street, this is from the City of Adelaide's 2017-18 Integrated Business Plan, page 42: "Design and construction for the upgrade of Gresham Street between Hindley Street and North Terrace. The project will consider design and delivery in 2017-18 including pavemen...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Thanks Norman again - can anyone please confirm that the southern side of North Terrace has now been more or less fixed to its pre-works self - as in the slate pavements fixed and any damaged trees replaced - it's hard to look that close in Norman's film. Adelaide (like many other places) has a bad ...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

Thanks Stryker and Melonhead for the great pics - really goes to show what a huge site the Festival Plaza is - it kinda feels like a huge part of the city centre is being reconstructed (and I guess it is!). If they get this right - the urban elements of the plaza itself, the retail component, the ae...

[COM] Re: Adelaidean | 11 Frome Street | 135m | 37 Levels | Mixed Use | New tallest

There's a very tall building going up in London that will be second to The Shard - the quality of the glass looks great and I've often thought hopefully the finish on The Adelaidean will look somewhat similar

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Has everyone on this forum lost their mind? I can tell you exactly what’s going to happen with the OH line in the next 20-years - nothing! No light rail, no electrification. Just things the way they are. Can we please stop dreaming of spur lines coming off every which way from this one line. Yes th...

Not really sure where there are train services to cut considering some were only extended to half hourly on weeknights and weekends a few months ago.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Very much doubt an airport express or airport only tram or light rail would work or could be justified on present arrival / departure figures. If the main line was constructed to Henley Beach or West Lakes with a spur from the airport to the main line (like the Port Dock extension will be) perhaps, ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Thanks Llessur2002 - some great pics! I'm trying to remain optimistic like almost everybody else on here, but who in DPTI thought it would be remotely acceptable for the poles to lean in like they are, even just a bit - despite them being safe and all that. It's not good enough for our premier stree...

From today https://i.imgur.com/JEo89Fn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Bf3Uj3t.jpg Great shots Ben - with regards to your first pic, if you'd taken that picture 15 years ago the only tall buildings you'd have have had would have been the Hilton Hotel and the Wakefield Tower - is that correct? Tells us quit...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

If you don't count the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, Rundle Street, the Botanic Gardens, Rymill Park, The National Wine Centre, museum & art gallery, and our two soon-to-be tallest buildings, it guess it might go to nowhere (!). No doubt in a few months the popularit...
