Re: Why are Adl people so scared of high rise?

What really gets me though is when people refer to 3–4 story apartments as "high rise". Who refers to those as high rise? I've not heard anyone do so. Taller buildings may be regarded as high rise when internationally they'd be regarded as medium rise, but AFAIK everyone agrees 4 s...

Re: What's it like to live in a modern apartment?

Yes, to some extent you have to change your way of thinking and your life style when moving to a smaller place. But, in my experience, that can be a good thing; you don't hoard so my crap because you can't. You are forced to exercise some self control. Once you get used to that it actually gives you...

Re: Why are Adl people so scared of high rise?

Maybe tall buildings make some people feel smaller and less important? I don't know, am not a psychologist, but I've thought about this ground hugging mentality here too especially when coming back to Adelaide after being to some place with real skyscrapers. To me, buildings soaring towards the sky ...

[COM] Re: U/C: 122 Grenfell Street | 59m | 17lvls | Ibis Hotel

The last thing this city needs is more carparking! Jesus Christ, enough already! If I travel somewhere by car and stay overnight in a city then on-site car parking will certainly be a factor when choosing which hotel to stay in. Why would I want to search for some pay parking lot and carry my bagga...

Great News, Hopefully the building gets off the ground aswell. Does anyone know what sales they are up to yet? Last week it was 40 apartments So they haven't sold a single apartment in more than two months? I wouldn't jump to that conclusion - maybe their info is not being updated on a daily basis.

Still some hope; it's only available for short term lease.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

And then of course we would have a permanently-blighted Park with a building to be used only 4 days a year for the pleasure of a handful of people. And how long do you think it would it be before there would be 'events' held there on a regular basis, hectares of car-parking and all the service area...

aboriginal elders are upset with the proposed use of non-native flora (plane trees)... At risk of being politically incorrect, no one is yet to convince me that the area of Victoria Sq, which just happens to be the geographical centre of a city designed in the 1830's has any cutural significance to...

Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development

Anyone know where things are at with the "New York style" apartments at 276 Flinders - Flinders Loft? If it is the one I think it is, it has been fully sold out. Should be ready to move in soon. Looks pretty good from the outside. Their other project down the street (Art Apartments) is ap...

Thanks for your informative post Wayno. This kind of news is what still makes me very optimistic - i.e. in the long run - about our state.
