I really like this vision. I see it as just the sort of style a 'new Adelaide' could embrace to modernize the skyline while keeping some real individuality.
If only vision releases in Adelaide were a once a week thing instead of bi-annually.

It's a shame but I just can't get pumped about this development. To me the whole thing looks half assed (especially the stairways), poorly weather protected and just plain cheap (but obviously not!).

Looks great imo.
For some reason I imagine Vic Sq will be more popular and better suited to daylight use/events while the Riverbank will take over in the evenings.

The Woolworths is ok but only the bare minimum of what you'd expect. The Remand Centre inspired BigW is dreadful.
Basically new mediocrity replacing the old but at least it'll be clean which will make a nice change.

I like the idea and would love an upper floor apartment in it with Light Sq facing windows, with the security that your kick ass view across the CBD will never be blocked out by future development. That's rare and very cool.
The deal breaker for me would be the car stacker.

Front entry to the apartments through the doors of the old Mission Hall? Should look pretty good if done right.

Re: CBD Development: Planning / City Height Limits Overhaul
Didn't the airport conditionally approve that 200m skyneedle/ob tower thingy proposed by an Asian investment group sometime in the early 90s? I think the project collapsed when the Asian financial crash happened (very hazy memory of details). Would be nice if the Flinders St proposal decided to stic...

This is like Currie Street all over again. I'll only give credence to this rumour when we at least see a proposal. Have to admit I'm a bit more enthused even by this vague rumour than I've ever been about the Wave Currie proposal being built. The difference in strength between the potential backers...

Advertising it again today on the sharemarket page. Still looks dreadful with those ridiculous panels.

Would the proposed 103m hotel be in that KWR view too or is it too far left?

I gather given it is a vision thread, we don't need to make the arbitrary "it isn't going to happen" posts anymore? because guys, this isn't going to happen  Why are you so confident in such an assertion? Do you know something the rest of us don't? comments from various sources. the ...

When governments wish to build highways near residential developments, they are required to reimburse nearby residents for amenity loss or pay for noiseproofing. When factories are contructed near residential developments in the burbs they are commonly required to pay for noiseproofing or to confin...

Re: CBD Development: Planning / City Height Limits Overhaul
Surprisingly to me Oklahoma City has six buildings over 120m so they're already killing us for height but obviously the density lags. Their last 100m+ build was completed in 1982 so as you can imagine the new one has created a great buzz and stoked some pride in their CBD again. It's great for peopl...
