[COM] Re: U/C - Health and Medical Research Institute (HMRI) - $20

You mean there are people out there that don't like those beautiful old boat sheds? Wow. I wouldn't trust their opinion on ..... well, anything really. Just wow. That's crazy.

[COM] Re: PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

Am I the only one who just doesn't see the point in this? Yes, Victoria Square is important and should be upgraded to some extent, but this? Seems like a massive waste of money and major overkill to me. If the government is already committed to upgrading the riverbank and the council is upgrading R...

[COM] Re: SWP: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment

i thought the whole reason of moving AFL to the city was to attract larger crowds because people are now becoming too lazy to drive to football park. in the late 90's the crows would easily attain 50,000 members until their form started to dwindle. so two reasons why this adelaide oval may not be e...

[COM] Re: SWP: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment

Whilst I don't wish to be seen to be perpetuating negative thinking, as I think AO is going to look freaking awesome once this is all done, it does bother me that the eastern and western stands won't quite be the same height. Perhaps it's just my OCD talking, but it seems a shame not to make things...

[COM] Re: SWP: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment

i doubt that standing room will be available for anything other than cricket i cant see the AFL allowing a standing room crowd at one of its venues so i doubt we'll ever see a 54000 crowd Adelaide Crows have already informed members there will be memberships available on the northern mound for thos...

Re: New Retail in the CBD

I like the look of a new little New York style Espresso bar thats just opened in James Pl (former STA travel shop). Its already a popular spot. Will try a coffee next week Really? Looks only slightly more inviting than a hospital to me. I much prefer the look and atmosphere of the Fair Espresso cof...

I love Henley Square but Moseley Square is the best public square in the country. There's nothing screwed up about it.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment Thread - Now Includes Poll!

Interesting to hear Jim Hancock, Deputy Director of the SA Centre for Economic Studies speaking on 891 this morning. He reckons that of the predicted $110m (or so) in economic development to the City through the Oval development only about $33m will be "new money". The rest is simply a sp...

Re: #COM: | Bay Junction | $60m | 3lvls | Retail | Glenelg

What's wrong with having shops, restaurants and cinemas all together conveniently in one air-conditioned, modern building with easy carparking right outside and a range of services on hand such as security, cleaners, first aid, information desks and sometimes entertainment of various types? Every t...

Re: #COM: | Bay Junction | $60m | 3lvls | Retail | Glenelg

Very sad news, hopefully the building will still be saved. Either way Glenelg needs a cinema. I sometimes think how awesome it would have been if the Marion Greater Union/Event Cinemas were built at Glenelg instead, closer to the beach end of Jetty Road than the Wallis Cinema was. I lament that in ...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment Thread - Now Includes Poll!

I'm wondering: Is Port Power's geographical area the smallest in the AFL, or would it be Carlton or some inner Melbourne club? Do AFL clubs still have geographical areas, or is it all done via the draft? Are you serious? Zones were abolished 20 years ago. I thought you said you were a fan of Port P...

Re: CBD Development: General

- from Morphett St, turn into Gouger St (stop at Moonta St, Chinatown) . Could be congested, but it's done at Jetty Rd Glenelg. If a tram went down Gouger Street the street could be made one way. We could then have two lanes, one for traffic and one a dedicated tram lane - both travelling the same ...

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment Thread - Now Includes Poll!

Because for as long as I can remember, if there was one club that had members everywhere, it was Port - I would say Port's fan base was the least localised of any of the SANFL clubs. You would find Port fans living right in the heartland of any other SANFL club you cared to mention. Port Adelaide w...
