Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Yes to North Adelaide (a "destination" in it's own right, cafes, pubs, beautiful old homes, future apartments etc)

No to Prospect Rd (just a really ordinary suburban area, a bus is more than sufficient for public transport needs along Prospect Rd)

Re: #Official Tourism Thread (General/Not Individual Projects)

Now this is the sort of good overseas publicity Adelaide needs, especially in a newspaper like the Wall Street Journal where the readership has money to travel (and for Americans, likely to actually leave the United States on long flights) From The Wall Street Journal https://images.wsj.net/im-87365...

#Official Tourism Thread (General/Not Individual Projects)

I started this thread for a discussion about tourism in Adelaide/South Australia.

Subject matters here should be of a general nature, individual projects should be discussed in their appropriate forums.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

If you want the cost of electricity to come down in South Australia then we need to get off gas.....most expensive method to generate electricity in SA and also a "price leader" pushing even wind and solar to higher prices. Here is the wholesale spot electricity price in SA over the last m...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Nothing to see here....move along......move along.

Absolute pie-in-the-sky proposal that sane people knew would go nowhere..."express service in 45 minutes".....on that train corridor?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

A lot of people on this forum seem obsessed with the livery (colour scheme) of the revamped diesel/electric trains but absolutely no discussion about the health benefits. I, for one, do not want to breathe diesel fumes as 3000 class trains idle in the Adelaide Railway Station......it is an affront t...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment

Nice concept especially the river park......but a park on Port Road? Opposite another large park? Adelaide does not need to build "parks on parks".....that one in Victoria Square next to the Cathedral is just downright strange (in terms of what it is meant to do) :? what? Screenshot_20231...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

I am a bit over the discussion on this forum always heading towards 'Well in Europe last month......" Europe is neither ahead nor behind South Australia in the renewable game......they have merely chosen a different path (interconnectors rather than storage, even though lots of European countri...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

it is when you realise they're now reliant on 'renewables' because of a shortfall from traditional energy sources after they stupidly closed their nuclear power generation in the previous decade Germany is not an economic basket case.....you provide no economic analysis from any independent source ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

AEMO has released a discussion paper about future SA energy needs around peak time. From Renew Economy South Australia is going to need a bigger battery to keep the lights on in evening peak https://b698061.smushcdn.com/698061/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/torrens-island-battery-agl-scaled.jpg?size=960...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Not everywhere in the world is sunny or windy. Sorry but I disagree......everywhere in the world is either sunny and/or windy. Even in climatic extremes like Antartica where the sun disappears for totally for 3 months and practically for 6 months you still have wind.....in fact it is the windiest p...
