Plenty of good points in there esp about the land use in the CBD, altho a bit harsh to compare our planning as immature.... london had run out of room literally centuries before europeans even set foot here. And I bet they wish they'd kept Col Light... But it's a good point about size, incidentally ...

Exactly right, we need developers with that kind of capital and entrepreneurial attitude in SA, good on him. This is a capitalist free market country last time i checked, and any government HAS to work with private sector business, sometimes more on their terms than the pollies would like, but hey t...

Adl-Melb... think starting fares were mentioned in single digits? Not unlike the london-dublin 5 pound flights you can get on such as easyjet. Those would be snapped up fairly quickly as these airlines tend to work on a system where price rises as the seats fill up. The last few seats would probably...

Daylight Savings increase?
The eastern states are bringing daylight savings forward 3 weeks to 6 Oct (may also be pushing back its end into April too or I may be imagining that bit?) I had heard SA wasn't gonna join in but now it seems we're having second thoughts... http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,21659129-5...

They are similar pushbutton true, but I lived in sheffield for a number of years and Meadowhall would fit comfortably inside Marion IMO, it only has about 250 shops, the food court is tiny and the dept stores are much smaller area-wise than david jones or myers. I'd say marion is a good 40-50% bigge...

You cant compare anything in Adelaide or even Australia to London. why not? :? I meant shopping complexes The shopping malls in Oz generally dwarf those in Europe. There's certainly nothing on Marion's scale anywhere in London or in the UK as a whole. The only place I've seen bigger is the huge hyp...

Can anyone give any info on what stores we are looking at for Marion?? Every frigging shop imaginable is in there so for an extra 100 stores to be added, there must be some designer labels going in there (eg; guess, A/X, and all them). Thing is that no other place in SA has these kinda shops which ...

Many british cities like manchester, liverpool, the docklands areas are much further out in proportion than Port Adl is (Adelaide being a vastly bigger metro area), and London's docklands is about 15kms out, if not further (greater london being a more comparable size to Adl). People don't buy into t...

Seen it happen in so many other cities, in europe and more recently in melbourne. I assume sydney too altho i haven't seen it so couldnt comment? Ports/docklands, whatever you wanna call em, tend for historical reasons to be close to CBDs and have decent transport links, they also have plenty of wat...

I would have to go for natives every time, deciduous trees look great in summer but what about other 3 seasons..... theres nothing makes anywhere look so glum as bare trees and dead leaves. Being european born what I love about Adelaide is its year round greenery, when I first arrived in SA it was J...
