Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment

A good outcome I think. At least under Renewal SA there's likely to be movement on the site in the short term. In private hands it could sit there for a couple of decades in the short term.

I also wonder if there will be a portion of the land dedicated to a new tram depot?

I was really impressed - it's a nice looking building but especially in the evening sun.

Re: News & Developments: Port Adelaide

Who owns the wool sheds and how many are vacant? From strolls I've had around the area there still seems to be activity associated with some of them, and a year ago at least one still stored wool (which for some reason I found surprising).

Is this project still going ahead?
Funnily enough I was wondering about this last week. I had a good trawl through all of the Wyndham and related corporate websites but couldn't find any recent reference to it after 2022.

I'm all for trees, but I agree that Parliament House loses some prominence because of those ones - chop them down. This has been suggested before and I respectfully strongly disagree with that one - obvious climate and environmental reasons for not chopping down mature trees aside, this part of Nor...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

Bit of a crazy thought, but what if the site set aside for the innovation centre were to become a Contemporary Art Gallery instead, therefore satisfying all parties involved re: Tarrkarri moving ahead. At this stage, the surrounding area is not benefitting from the severe lack of activity and the i...

Why is the north face slightly different in the top-right corner?
Because the glass is angled differently in that section:

Here's a couple more from Friday from a slightly different angle:

a fiscally responsible labor government and the true believers are leaving in their droves  It is completely possible for a government/party to be fiscally responsible without abandoning long-term aspirations and visions around what makes a city more livable. The former doesn't bother me, the ...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments

I feel like them getting booted for a term has rattled them and they're playing their cards closer to their chest, as opposed to announcing grand plans like AdeLINK. I don't think the whole economic/inflation/cost of living situation is helping either, when their going to be spending $10 billion on...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments

It is going to be painful to watch the next 3 years (or longer...) of this government. I've been a Labour/Labor voter forever and I'm thoroughly underwhelmed to be honest. The Gather Round was a nice coup, and I do believe Mali played a big role in securing it but other than that I'm finding it dif...

The more I think about it the more I think an expansion of the botanic garden would be a nice outcome for the site, or at least a good portion of it. Something that softens the boundary of the garden with North Terrace and also contains a significant attraction such as a treetop walkway (akin to the...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Fill the retail spaces with something - anything - that is going to be useful to commuters or draw people in. That was pretty much my point. What would work in the station environment? I can only think of a supermarket or similar or potentially another food & drink offering. Maybe a specialty r...

[PRO] Re: New Adelaide Aquatic Centre | $135M

There are two accessible/family change rooms right at the very end of the centre near where the creche is. We used to use them when my son was younger, but learnt to not try and go there as soon as his lesson finished as there would be a (very slow moving) line. Best to have a bit more of a swim in...

[PRO] Re: New Adelaide Aquatic Centre | $135M

The only thing I want are change rooms that don't require a long walk from the pool through the entry foyer with the cold air blowing in every time someone comes through the doors, whilst navigating a crowd of people standing around waiting for a birthday party to be set up. Likewise - the changing...
