Re: #Article:RAA calls for toll lanes to ease traffic congestion

Adding a toll lane to an existing road without addressing congestion will not help anybody. The same volume of traffic (and an increasing volume as time goes on) will be simply split into those who don't wish to pay and those who do, going down the same corridor. A toll road needs to have a marked a...

I wouldn't. ;)

Although even when only partly full the Flexitys feel cramped and the seats are awfully uncomfortable.

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade

So the H class was 64/170 and the Flexity is 64/115? Or were crush loads estimated more sardine-like back in the 1950s?

Re: The Garden of Huge Potential.

So the question is; where would we put Disneyland Adelaide? Monarto, Aldinga, Virginia? :D I favour your Monarto choice, just to the West of the Zoo? On the lot bordered by Frahns Farm, Thiele, Hartmann and Schenscher roads. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Monarto,&ie=UTF8&oe=utf-8&...

Re: Sydney to buy Brisbanes old ticketing system

I remember those ticketing machines in Qld. They seemed very inefficient, the drivers spent ages working them when passengers boarded.

Re: City Street Parking

Your idea for prepaid ignores one reason behind paid parking, other than revenue raising, the idea is that in some places you only get a certain amount of time then you must move on and give someone else a go. With your prepaid parking, how would a parking officer know how long you've been in a plac...

Re: Mini Golf on Festival Centre

As I'm sure many of you have noticed, there is much to be desired about the space between the festival center and parliament house. Once the location for Adelaide's long gone public baths, this concrete wasteland of outdated and uninspiring art has very little to offer for the local citizens of Ade...

Re: The Garden of Huge Potential.

I would like to thank you all for contributions... I want to stress the word potential.. I think a venue with teh same philosophy of the Garden is what Adelaide needs.. Something with razzle-dazzle. I understand that things can become stale, but if we built a venue that was out of the word - and co...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive Upgrade + Torrens Footbridge

Why can't you just walk along King William Street? Tell that to people who use the University Bridge, and there isn't even anything significant on the northern bank. The University Footbridge's main intent was to get people from Adelaide Uni to their sport fields on the other side. Lots of North Ad...

Re: #Vision: New Inner-City Stadium

Anyone know of any multi-purpose stadiums that have solved the big oval vs small rectangle situation? perhaps movable lower-tier seating could be a solution? and are multi-purpose stadiums just an australian phenomenon due to cricket/afl vs soccer? I think you're right that is it just a problem mai...

Re: Perth's Waterfront Redevelopment

... I like the uniqueness of Adelaide, but, I think what I and others are saying (forgive me for being wrong) is to keep that uniqueness but to make Adelaide a more practical, functional and attractive city. I think building huge skyscrapers is not necessarily the answer; but building unique - func...

Edgar wrote:The poles and vertical structures of the buildings are tilt? How did that work?
I haven't thought this through completely but at first glance, the downward force on the tilled structure would be translated into horizontal force to help support the overhanging section?

Re: The Garden of Huge Potential.

I think the reason it is so popular is because it is short lived. If we had something like this all year round it would become stale, people would take it for granted. Talent and attraction would be hard to maintain and keep fresh. Just look at the attempts to hold on to the Fringe and how long they...
