That's absolutely terrible news! Many condolences to the family and friends.
Hopefully, Taylor's legacy is strong enough that the firm continues to be a force for good design in our city.

Still, hyperbole aside, I am really excited about the proposal and hope it both gets built in its present form and acts as a benchmark for future developments so that we can see the back of the raft of uninspired glass boxes. Well done Paul (if you're reading) and well done to the developers for gi...

Re: Continuing influence of the SDA union on SA politics.
OK, it's internal Labor Party stuff, but then where are the faithful Party members? This is the real problem, and it is true of both major parties. Clearly, there is no failure of democracy in Australia, as you sometimes seem prone to suggest. But equally clearly, our strong party system is an affl...

I want it! I want it bad!
Good job Howie, and thanks Paul for the scoop! Do we know who the developer's are or what's the financing situation?

Awesome potential for a key gateway boulevard! Hopefully it'll be a quality design.

I wish the façade treatment was a little more sophisticated than painted concrete, but I'm still more than happy to see this move ahead. The area needs it.

Latest 'image'... http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2011/07/19/1226097/838207-footbridge.jpg It's not the footbridge that's got my attention, it's the green roof on the Festival Theatre! That actually looks pretty good! Though, it does concern me that all of the images released so far appear to ...

[COM] Re: General Rundle Mall Development & Progress Thread
I've done all my shopping in the Mall/city for close to three years, with the brief exception of when Woolies was being renovated. Given I work in the city, and live just outside, it's a more efficient use of my time. Trollies are really un-necessary if you shop wisely.

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I've been on a couple of the new buses and none of them were painted with this red-fronted livery. Although I prefer (and in fact LIKE) the existing yellow-fronted livery, ultimately I would really just like for the entire Adelaide Metro fleet to stay 'on brand' with a uniform livery -- even if it m...

Apart from the loss of some west-facing glass on the front lower levels, it's not that different, even maybe better IMO.

Restoring some of these would make such a huge difference to the Hindley streetscape. I hope the building owners can be persuaded.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre, Casino & Riverbank Developme
The biggest problem that the entire riverbank precinct faces is that it is completely disjointed with no proper levelling of all terraces. Every facility along the southern bank is completely segregated from one and other and there is a major lack in flow along the precinct. The scariest part is th...

SRW: How do you figure this to be the ACC's fault? Assuming that it was under 10m - quite simply because they approved it, and they keep on approving these big ugly carparks. The ACC DAP approved an office building and associated car park because it was in keeping with the development plan and ther...
