[COM] Re: 52-66 King William Street | 65m | 15 Levels | Southern Cross Arcade

What is is with Adelaide, that when a relatively tall building is constructed, it is generally boxy, but the shorter ones are all angles, curves and top notch glass facades? This should have been much taller-given its prime location, WITH the finish presented here. At least we seem to have moved awa...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Those 6 rail lines, 2 tram lines, and o bahn, how many people are actually not within a reasonable distance to actually make use of those forms of public transport? How inconvenient is it for the majority to use these forms of public transport? That's where the measure should be, not on how many we...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Public sentiment was overwhelming against the MATS plan because it would ultimately have increased the drivability of Adelaide at the expense of livability. Nothing's changed on that front because still 50 years later no one wants to live near a big road. Building these inner and outer ring roads p...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

there are still way too many carparking stations in the CBD, and still no decent ring route around the CBD You make it sound like other cities have a decent ring route around them, but do they? I don't think Australian cities do. Happy to be proven wrong. I guess I can only comment from the Perth c...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Look I agree with trams sharing the road with cars but only on D, C or B grade classification routes. Main North Road (A route) feeds into O'Connell. It's not doable. There's far too much traffic for that to be a practical solution. Traders will kick up a shit storm if on street parking is removed ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Neither West Lakes or Port Adelaide are high density - not yet at least. Sorry should have clarified " by Adelaide standards" high density, and rapidly developing. Even those already small 1970's blocks at West Lakes (by Adelaide standards) are being sub divided-let alone the ongoing apar...

How much more money would it take to make the North Adelaide centre FINA-compliant? Might as well return competitions here if rebuilding anyway.
That would require admitting the Marion complex was an ill thought out poorly located folly by a previous Labor government.

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

They could. However, it should be buses only in this case. That's because if buses are on the tram tracks, they can use tram stops. That leaves the other lane free for cars etc without having to stop for buses at stops. But if they have centre stops it won’t work for buses that have left-hand doors...

Re: SA Economy

Very good amount for a mid-week event. 48k to a sporting event that the majority have no interest for or even understand, is a pretty good turn out. If the NRL had the vision to setup a team in Adelaide, and followed through with supporting it financially to ensure it survived long enough to stand ...

Re: SA Economy

The $15m boost probably wouldn't include what we paid to host the event, I'd say. Wonder how many people travelled to SA from interstate for the match? 15,000 is the figure i've heard thrown about. Which makes the $15 million sound about right, two or three nights in a hotel plus food, drinks and e...

[COM] Re: 52-66 King William Street | 65m | 15 Levels | Southern Cross Arcade

Surely businesses like banks and telcos have embraced working from home and automation a lot more than government. You'd think so, especially with a cost of living crisis, flexible arrangements like WFH should be the go to, but even NAB has told senior staff they have to work from the office 5 days...

Re: 250 homes to be demolished for 650 new ones

To be clear, I am not against high density zones. But these must be near high frequency train stations, preferably including local shops, childcare and maybe even a small pub or social facility.. none of which we are getting with these middle suburb proposals. It’s lazy and cheap, and we have learnt...

Re: 250 homes to be demolished for 650 new ones

Claybro, if you're going to engage in ridiculous conspiracy theories, I suggest you take your comments elsewhere and peddle them on other web forums. But they are not welcome here. 15 minute cities are not a conspiracy theory. Just Google it. It is being spoken about and rolled out by town planners...
