Can anyone please confirm if council approved the demolition of the existing buildings on the site [and when]...it would be a touch hypocritical of Harbison if they havent.

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line
Really darlings, does anybody who lives in North Adelaide catch public transport anyway [or really want any more users of public transport to come into their dignified village society .... [sarcasm].

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]
While I agree in the above in a planning sense the key question for me is who is going to pay for it and take on the risk esp. if it fails. Can you imagine the outrage if Mr Foley committed many hundreds of millions of taxpayer money [and to his own electorate] and it turned out to be a white elepha...

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line
What I still cant get my head around is the trams only fit 200 or so - so in the years to come if we need to move say 10,000+ people on public transport in say one hour [ie from AAMI stadium or workers to city etc] - how many trams will we need running and how many road delays for others waiting at ...

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line
Is the location of the Pt Adelaide station on the overhead bridge [opp. the former Messenger Press site]?
Why dont they do up Glanville, Ethelton stations etc which fronts Newport Quays - they are screaming for upgrade esp. as an entrance statement to this supposed new $1billion suburb.

Re: #U/R: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]
I think its admirable to have all these dreams for Pt Adelaide but I think the commercial reality is the only way it will work is if the taxpayer is footing the bill. If you disagree, the question I pose is what specifically can financially support itself [and not become another wine centre on a pep...

Re: SAFC at Glenside
Your slant is to summarize or suspect a lack of transparency as corruption/bribery - which I think is totally naive. The plane scenario is an analogy to highlight that people in power need to make decisions which they simply haven't the luxury [or inclination] to report, debate and discuss and it ha...

Re: SAFC at Glenside
Your line where you say the govt may choose bribery & corruption highlights your slant. Have you ever thought that the govt itself is the one compromised and are forced down a particular path [and not neccessarily because they want to.] People in power are often faced with tough decision where s...

Re: SAFC at Glenside
Ok essentially you have to actually trust in the govt. & that what they are doing is for the good of the people. If you dont believe this basic premise then you will always be skeptical/suspicious and you may as well move to another place [ps can you give me an idea of which place/govts you cons...

Call it corruption, call it mis-management but I would rather see things being done in this state than wasteland sites like North Adelaide continuing to sit idle. So the govt could save millions here and there....well guess what, they will just blow the money someone else anyway! I believe Keynesian...

Re: Glenside redevelopment
Ok Stumpjumper we accept that EVERYTHING the govt has its hand is corrupt - Port Adelaide, Cheltenham, Glenside, Clipsal blah, blah, blah.
Just accept they are all crooks and get over it as I think most people on this forum couldn't give a shit.

Correct Ominicron.
Just to confirm, this is what the council/heritage wanted designed to get there approval.
If a new design/plans are proposed they will definately go through DAC, so there is hope.

Ok question to the forum, what do you think the developer should do supposing option 3 gets approved? Would you 1) accept it & build it 2) try option 1 or 2 again through DAC or 3) Try a new re-design [probably first 5 floors need to stay same for heritage to support it, so what would you design...

[CAN] Re: #APP: Freedom Apartments (Grote) | 30m | 3 x 8 Lvl
Whats amazing is that when a developer does something world class like the initial renders for 199 North Tce the council takes 1.5 - 2yrs and still rejects it/dumbs it down. At least DAC seem to at least do things in a timely manner.
