Re: [] CBD Development: General
Sorry for going off topic but why the F#*% does every article written in the eastern states have to refer to us as the 'city of churches'!? Every time this moniker is used tremendous damage is done to our image. There are times when I wish Mike Rann would do a Stalin. What rubbish. It is a h...

in terms of building merit, the thing is a bloody box that has no character on the outside or the inside. I strongly disagree. Where the Myer Centre is an example of horrible design the David Jones building is the exact opposite and it has been a wonderful success. Until reading your comment I've n...

I don't care how long it takes. I only care what the result looks like.
I think they did a great job with stage 1 so I have similar hopes here.

If it will look dated and worn in only 35 to 60 years then it shouldn't be built.pushbutton wrote:Chances are it will last maybe between 35 and 60 years max, and then something else will take its place again (by which time it will probably look dated and be worn out anyway).

Re: Adelaide United's chance to make history
Come on people, come out and support Adelaide United! Less than 10k were there on Saturday in the battle for 2nd position against one of AUFC's more intense rivals. What's going on? That's embarrassing. I don't care if the temperature fell below 20. This is a competition that some (foolishly) say is...

Re: Adelaide United's chance to make history
But if what you say is true then how did Australia get the olympics? Surely that is a bigger event than the world cup. They aren't related and have no bearing on each other. They are not voted on by the same people. One is city based and one is hosted across an entire nation. There is no common thr...

Re: Adelaide United's chance to make history
I don't think so if you look at all the last world cup's over the last 10-20 years most NOT ALL of them have been in countries with high growth potenital like us Japan, Korea, South africa, USA, c'mon if south africa can get we should be a shoe in! The only reason South Africa got the World Cup was...

Re: Adelaide United's chance to make history
It's easy for him to say that because he knows, as does anyone with a morsel of intellegence, that Australia has zero chance of successfully bidding for the world cup.

[DEF] Re: AAMI Stadium to recieve a $100million facelift
'The Opposition has promised a new super stadium in the centre of Adelaide Haha, I don't know if Hamilton-Smith cringes everytime something like that is mentioned or enjoys being taken out of context if it means increasing his popularity, because he has never promised such a thing. Every time he ha...

[COM] Re: #APP: Adelaide Zoo | Redevelopment
You would be suprised how much zoo tourism there is... Exactly. And besides, tourists don't necessarily have to be from interstate or overseas. People coming in from the country and even the suburbs are tourists. Many suburbanites don't come into the city all that often, but they'll come to the zoo...

[DEF] Re: AAMI Stadium to recieve a $100million facelift
Nothing is stopping soccer from having its own new stadium. It seems they want one, but only if football or the government pay for it. Keeping in mind the fact that the current stadium was built and paid for entirely by the Government little more than a decade ago (to massive criticism), why should ...

Great. Offices on the ground floor. Surely that is the last thing one of the few interesting entertainment streets in Adelaide needs. There is a whole city with space for offices and we yet we now have to have them encroaching onto Gouger Street. That's a tragedy if it happens. So bland and boring.

[DEF] Re: AAMI Stadium to recieve a $100million facelift
Interesting article about the waning popularity of the A-League. In relation to attendance figures anyway. http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,24569496-5000940,00.html All eight A-League clubs are experiencing dwindling average crowds this season. Some teams have been on a steady decline ever s...

Re: Adelaide United's chance to make history
Finally woken up to the beautiful world game with the new A-League a few years ago and consider your self an expert on "soccer" now? Or was it Australia qualifying for the World Cup that caught your attention? I've been following the game for close to 30 years. But that's got nothing to d...
