Wilfy, you better make sure these guys don't get anywhere near any of your railcars to the Barossa:

Re: 3500 new homes for the Bridge
For a quick burst of sanity on the issue of passenger trains: http://transporttextbook.com/?p=509 Comments are welcome. I thought that a route could be taken from Mitcham to Stirling or Bridgewater, but it is thru the Hills with lots of problems and of course the gradients are a problem. Be a big hi...

Re: 3500 new homes for the Bridge
Combining the slow & windy route with steep grades makes it a dog route for freight trains. I do agree that it needs fixing, but the only real solution is a new route which would have to go via another area, unless you are proposing massive tunnels, high enough to fit double-stack containers and...

Re: 3500 new homes for the Bridge
So is this cause for a campaign for a Regular rail Passenger service from Murray Bridge to Adelaide? Any thoughts? No - the alignment is still stuffed. If we are to ignore the population etc arguments (which are very valid), people won't take a train that takes 2+ hours over a bus or driving taking...

Re: Building over Adelaide Railway Lines.
Decking over a rail line and using it for a bloody carpark would be such a waste.

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
For traffic comming from the north/west & outer harbour; that last stretch of driving from the entertainment centre into the city during peak hour, let alone trying to find/ pay for parking - the park-and-tramride will be an attractive and effective option. Lol - why would you want to encourage...

Re: #Proposed : Port Adelaide Tram Line
I agree with you. If they were to build a park and ride there, about 2 or 3km out of the city, surely most people will go there, intending on parking there, then they will see how close they are to the city and just not be bothered catching the tram and drive in instead. Silly really. It's a waste ...

Re: Why the Gawler line needs to be upgraded - NOW!
Yawn. :wank: Think of all that wasted time for nothing. Just because a station is there now doesn't mean it should remain. Should there be railway stations inserted in suburban back streets on a commuter rail, not a subway service just so a few odd people get a train stopping on their doorstep, whic...

Re: Why the Gawler line needs to be upgraded - NOW!
Who said anything about running buses down narrow streets? Why would you want to run buses along anything other than main roads? I propose we don't replace Gawler Oval with anything - it's within the pedshed of Gawler Central. People would rather a 10 minutely train that doesn't stop on everybody's ...

Re: Buses & Trains Debate
Lol: http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/guides/images/black_kind.gif You'd still need route 222 down Main North Rd no matter how good the Gawler Central Line's service was, as it's ages away from there. The route that follows the rail line past Dudley Park etc could be cut. Some of Adelaide's bus route...

Re: Why the Gawler line needs to be upgraded - NOW!
Yes, there's no bus route in Gawler, so there cant ever be one, so we need to have commuter rail trains pulling up at everybodys doorstep!!!!11
Logic for da winn.

Re: Dry Creek/Lonsdale Railyards
so that the exact number of jobs people want = the working population of the area, but it just doesnt happen like that. It is irresponsible to allow the construction of sprawl that will be exurbia - the Government has planning control, surely you should know eastadl :wank:  There will always ...

Re: Why the Gawler line needs to be upgraded - NOW!
You should know that me of all people wouldn't be in support of park-n-ride ;) At least the Gawler Central Line is relatively well planned in that it passes numerous suburban centres: - Mawson Lakes - Salisbury - Elizabeth - Gawler For how much the Perth dribblers bang on about their Joondalup Line,...

Re: Dry Creek/Lonsdale Railyards
Hang on, on the Gawler line thread you ask for the closure of a few stations, because of the post by ricardo that wants gaps of min 5km between stations. How is removing a few silly stations in commuter rail territory the same as super-express trains that run 30km without stopping? :wank:  Is...

Re: Why the Gawler line needs to be upgraded - NOW!
The line from Gawler to Gawler Central must be duplicated if a proper service is to be provided. A double turnback would be nice too, to allow more than one train to be in the station at once. Might as well eliminate Gawler Oval at the same time as you do that - walk-up patronage is insignificant to...
