There was an approval granted last week for a change to the staging.
Probably gonna sound silly here but I don’t know much about the development process, does this bode well for this one

I’ve been informed by someone that there were two drilling rigs doing some sort of work on this site today.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Can’t imagine many people would be happy to have their “demand managed” during a these hot summer months, it’s quite uncomfortable to say the least, to lose power for several hours during 35+ degree weather. Plus not to mention all those companies being forced to power down every time the renewables...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

lol you sound like some hideous conservative transport engineer from the 50s. I guess you could be right as there are hundreds of obahns built in hundreds of cities around the world, hmmmm. Yes, I’m totally sure he’s an eeeevil conservative, you know, because he doesn’t like trams. Although tbh, I ...

I recall seeing something in the Tenders section in the Business Journal about a project at 150 Grenfell Street. Anyone know anything about this project?

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

The current state of both Currie and Grenfell Streets is an embarrassment. Looks so rundown in parts for what is meant to be a key business and public transport hub for the city. And still after all these years, not a single dollar or any serious plans towards improving it. Yeah, western sec...

Apparently just 1% of the Sahara desert covered in solar panels is needed go power the whole world.
Which would probably have a capacity factor of <20%

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

What a load of nonsense. As I said above, prove it. You're labelling people who support moving to renewables as greenies. Many of us in this thread support moving to renewables. Therefore many of us in this thread by your definition greenies. I know I don't hold the motivations you assign to greeni...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

All cost and manufacturing aside, as at 5pm SA time.. 5:30 EST .. wind power generation for all states was less than 5%. At the time of day, with the greatest load.. 5% eith SA90% supplied by gas. Vic, NSW and Qld mainly coal. Building more wind turbines will not magically create more generation, r...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

$150 per mwh is the rumoured to be the price of power from the Barker Inlet gas power station as well. At least batteries are forecast to fall in price by 10% per year, the price of gas is only forecast to go one way in this country and that is up. Gas producers told Morrison they want to charge cu...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Also I have seen prices in the past putting pumped hydro around $200 per mwh in SA. This compares to around $150 per mwh for batteries. Wow, $150 MWh so much for “affordable, green power” and where are all those “thousands of green jobs” after the construction finishes anyway? Last I checked the av...

too expensive and too inflexible compared to batteries.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Surely the price of Nuclear would drop if more stations were being built, though? Solar Thermal was pretty much the most expensive type of power about a decade ago before there was a decent pipeline of projects underway, now I recall hearing (and yes, from renewables people) that it is now among the...
