Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development

It could relate to trying to get an approval on their next site opposite corner also on Halifax St [which is currently offices & the building has yet to be demolished.]

Yes the Hampstead Rd site (car yard & mechanic) is for a Coles Express Petrol station & Hungry Jacks. It's by Emmett (who did a similar one on South Rd Edwardstown about a year ago).

My guess is only 2 are ready (Festival Tower and Kodo). I think the rest including many others to come are going to be relying on enough pre-sales first to get finance/begin construction. 2017 could be a watershed year, the REA chief economist Nerida Conisbee has said an "eye-watering" 18,...

Response to 1) how the hell was the state govt to know the builders/developers wouldn't meet their own work schedule for completion and build it with "9 key defects .... now deemed unfixable." These are reputable building companies involved and assume they would have had the best people an...

Its not clear if you are but you can't blame the Govt (or Adel Uni) if this turns out to be the case. For the NRah it's up to the builder/developer to deliver the finished product as per the spec's and every days delay actually saves (makes) the Govt (and us as taxpayers) $1m per day ! (which adds m...

[U/C] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use

I believe (and think Makris has said) it will (finally) start in 2017. I think the approval may lapse after 2017 also. I also think the Sheraton has a completion date of 3Q 2019 to start operation. Also it adds up that he is conducting a few big asset sales and it would be to finance this.

It would be the owner (Theo Samaras/Kyren) of the property who is doing the steel fabrication/construction as their company specialises in this, has its own cranes etc. They did the U-park carpark and apartments opp. and have done many similar developments. The biggest was probably the old Repco sit...

I would basically say they [or anybody else] has the right to run their business/company any way they want provided it is legal. And its up to the public to DECIDE whether to shop [or work] there or not. Ok lets assume OTR weren't here, so it would be more power to Coles/Woolies duopoly and even les...

Rev, I do not understand your (or others) aggression considering no one forces to you to shop there (or work there). They are a successful and parochial SA based company/family that re-invests their profits back here. Nationally there are approx 4000 petrol stations Vs 130 OTRs. OTR in SA is the onl...

Even if they had French doors that opened (internally) with a steel balustrade (so balcony-like), so you could let actual fresh air in! The Playford (prev. Sebel) rooms facing Victoria St have them. They add no cost to the build or extra floor space yet are so much better. I should have also added t...

Windows can still be double glazed regardless if there are balconies. So guests smoking inside the room is also preferable, not. For me, sitting outside people-watching on an entertainment strip like Hindley is far prefable than being couped up in a room just watching a TV - you may as well just sta...

I am all for this development but that office tower in this location is an absolute disgrace. They should call it the 30 pieces of silver tower. The govt should have had more backbone and refused Walkers money if this was the trade-off & eye-sore legacy for generations to come.

Rev I don't really understand what point you are trying to make? I think you are also significantly underestimating their success, in 2015 there turnover was $1.65 Billion & now are ranked bigger than Santos (our biggest SA company on the ASX).
