Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line

More shots from the first day (and night) of testing on the extension to Adelaide's Entertainment Centre: The first electric-powered vehicle to run over the extension wasn't a tram ! Unfortunately the driver dropped the panto just as I was about to take the picture http://i154.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line

In the early hours of the 22nd of February 2010, Flexity 110 became the first tram to test Adelaide's Entertainment Centre Extension. In the attached shot she's about to negotiate the George St intersection on Port Rd at 2am. The tram motored along at walking speed, accompanied by a number of orange...

Re: Glenelg Tram upgrade (#UC: South Rd Overpass)

Here's the next afternoon - bitumen laying underway. I went back around 9pm to find that everyone but the traffic controllers had left. It turned out that because of the thickness of the bitumen, it had to be left overnight to cool down before the final layers were added. Note the "Road Closed&...

Re: Glenelg Tram upgrade (#UC: South Rd Overpass)

Friday the 19th of February 2010 - two excavators work to remove the tracks which remained embedded in South Rd under Adelaide's new overpass. A diamond saw had previously cut the concrete (and rails) into manageable chunks. The orange machine would lift their edges and nudge them free before its ye...

Re: Glenelg Tram upgrade (#UC: South Rd Overpass)

Locals should be aware that there will be a closure of South Rd from 10pm today (Feb 19th) for the whole weekend. The old track is coming up from under the overpass and other works which are better managed without passing traffic will be undertaken. Here's H-Type 367 returning from a test run to the...

Re: #U/C: Port Adelaide Tram Line

Here are a couple of shots from Adelaide's Entertainment Centre extension taken on February the 14th 2010. In the first, Flexity 106 is in the City West stop. Just past the tram is the point where the the extension trackwork was connected over the weekend. The West Tce stop's roof is barely visible ...

Here's 202, the last of the currently expected Citadis trams arriving at Glengowrie depot.
The OD Transport drivers just get better and better at reversing.

Re: Glengowrie depot works

The South yard has been closed for some time as the upgrade continues. Its overhead has been removed and there are trams packed in, leading to many more shunting moves than we're used to. When Citadis 206 was delivered, a number of trams were stabled on the main line to make room for the delivery op...

Re: Glengowrie depot works

Excavations continue in the South yard this week. This morning a couple of cranes moved the remaining third of the original written-off Flexity 103 to make way for the construction work.

Plus H-367 as long as the council trips are running and either H-370 or H-367 as the depot shunter.
