Re: Events Post-Covid
Due to the virus, Tennis Australia will move all tournaments to be played in Melbourne for this summer. Therefore Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Sydney, and Perth will not host their respective events this summer. Melbourne comes out as the big winner, who would have thought considering the m...

And the joke continues with these pie in the sky, unworkable concepts – and that is very reason there is no proper plan of action. There is no single focus and there are too many conflicting self-interest groups. The most practical solution still might be a properly rebuilt Memorial Drive for hardco...

Re: Superloop 500
This announcement is of no surprise to me.
See my comments on this topic back in February this year.
Its future has been under a cloud in the background, since the start of the year.
It was just a matter of what explanation would be provided to justify the axing.

When the NS MW is completed, freight on the Melbourne-Perth freight corridor via Adelaide, (regardless if that freight is stopping in Adelaide or passing through), will take the shortest/fastest/most economical route, and that will be the 6KM stretch of Cross Road joining the SE FW to the new NS MW....

Re: Adelaide Oval news and events
The India Test series has been locked in for this summer. The four Tests have been awarded to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane – Perth misses out (good). Adelaide has been given the best slot possible – one weekend before the xmas weekend, this is the time slot Adelaide should be locking i...

With this weeks announced pending closure (mid 2021) of West End Brewery at Thebarton surely this site would be a prime candidate as a replacement for Hindmarsh Stadium. The previously proposed railyards site could then be used for a smaller 15K multiuse arena. Surely the Crows jump all over the We...

http://grogheads.com/forums/Smileys//Brantz%20Smilies/smiley.gif I found this by chance – State Transport Authority, Rail Map, 1980. It’s interesting to see how it was 40 years ago. http://www.railmaps.com.au/historic_rail_map_adelaide_1980.htm http://www.railmaps.com.au/Map_Adelaide_1980.jpeg Let ...

Re: Adelaide Oval news and events
The English Premier League are looking at options to finish their season under lock down. It is looking at basing all 20 teams in one city to play the remaining games of the season. A significant economic boost to any city involved, in immediate $$$ and international exposure on TV for future touris...

In this vision there would only be one railway station – Tanunda. Tanunda could be upgraded into a transport & destination hub. It is the main historic township of the valley; it does have Chateau Tanunda next to the station and the ICC approved cricket oval on the grounds. To be honest, I've n...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
I would just like to point out that SANTOS is not "packing up and leaving". It is merely shifting staff around the country, and the number of people employed in the Adelaide office(s) will remain the same. They will just be different staff. I also doubt that SANTOS will be the tenant here...

Re: Website not Secure?
For the past week or so, McAfee Firewall is blocking me access to this site.
It keeps reporting an intrusion is being detected, I have to manually allow each time.
This is the only site the Firewall keeps blocking.
Anyone else having this issue?

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
I'm not sure how that tourist train to the Barossa world work though. There would still need to be buses transporting the people from the train stations to the wineries. I think most tourists would prefer to go winery to winery on a tour bus as they do now. I doubt the cost to operate the train wor...

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport
Looks like the battle to preserve the rail corridor between Tanunda and Nuriootpa has been lost. Having previously lost the line from Nuriootpa to Angaston, and the other branch line from Lights Pass to Truro years before that, and as Penrice Quarry hasn't rail stoned to Port Adelaide in recent yea...

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands
Apparently the Adelaide City Council have decided to approach the Federal and State Governments, in addition to the surrounding Metropolitan Councils, for funding to consider an upgrade of the North Adelaide Aquatic Centre. It seems the ACC is not prepared to foot the cost alone to either maintain a...

The problem with that section of parklands is the Government alienated it soon after the city plan was completed in 1837 - 380 acres of it was conveyed to the government for use of buildings or for any purpose it saw fit. This is why the section between North terrace and the River Torrens from the e...
