Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
So how many similar, but pointlessly different, liveries are we up to across buses, trams and trains? It's a fucking dogs breakfast. Agreed. Doesn't really make for a cohesive brand identity, but then again, probably reflects the haphazardness of the service. I think all the liveries have been movi...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects
As opposed to some of the comments above I don't have a problem with the materials used - I think it looks simple and smart and much better than before. I think the council could roll out a lot of these on other up and coming laneways that could do with a lick of paint. I wish they could have plante...

They will be installing several large planter boxes in the coming weeks also.

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
Reading the InDaily article it would appear that there's little justification for removing these trees. In past recent projects like Rundle Mall and Victoria Square the tree removal has resulted in a big improvement- in the case of Rundle Mall the almost 50 new elms are lush and green and much bette...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects
I emailed the Council about the full Gresham St plans. From what I can interpret, they will be reconstructing the kerbing, adding a minor amount of granite paving here and there along with bitumen (a bit like the Hindley St West works or Peel St I guess) and also upgrading the planter boxes. As on A...

Cheers Andy for these pictures - is there any sign of tree pits for some greening?

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
I think both sides should accept some responsibility for the state of the rail system until 2007-8, when the State Labor Government began to invest billions in the extension and electrification of both train and tram. However, it does seem like the Liberals have been more consistently anti-rail - cu...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Service & Policy
With all of the above, why, then, over the past 25 years is Melbourne the only other city to outsource the metropolitan train system, and not Brisbane, Perth or Sydney despite stints of Liberal Governments in those states?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
DPTI have published an update on the Gawler line electrification project on their Facebook page. In short, the early works on the project are continuing with service relocations now reaching the northern end of the line at Salisbury, Elizabeth South, Broadmeadows, and Gawler. Also, I believe the con...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
Improving and expanding the rail system comes down to a lack of political willpower - pure and simple. The money to fund the electrification of the Outer Harbor line and to stick with the Port Dock Spur could easily be sourced from the combined total going towards the Torrens Road and Brighton Road ...

I'm pretty sure this is now the tallest crane Adelaide has had since the construction of the State Bank complex in 1987.

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects
From the discussion on the SkyCity upgrade thread about Bank Street laneway, the missing tree was vandalised and will be replaced within the next fortnight. Credit to the City Council for replying so quickly.

[COM] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel
To confirm your worst fears, that's been gone for a while. Most probably collected by louts, but also possibly loading vehicles -- several of the granite slabs along Bank Street have been seriously chipped, which indicates either tight manoeuvres or shit drivers. It happens, just need to replace it...

[COM] Re: SkyCity Adelaide Casino Expansion | 55m | 12 Levels | Hotel
Sorry slightly off topic but please tell me they haven't already removed one of the new trees in Bank Street and not replaced it - I'm referring to the apparent tree stump in the bottom third of ChillyPilly's last picture.
