Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
There is one other restriction that the Sunday Mail never touched on in the article. Since 1986 when Glengowrie Depot was built, the DOWN platform at Morphett Road has been located within the middle of the depot triangle and with the traingle track connecting to the mainline at either end of the pl...

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Looks like it could have been a one off but then again, it could be the start of something here. Only keep our fingers crossed. Don't hold your breath, Transadelaide isn’t even meant to use them unless its timetabled. This is because they don’t meet accessibility standards (no duh). They have e...

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Just an idea, Ive always thought a Tram line down Rundle street would be sweet, turn Rundle street into a one way street for cars also? Good idea or bad idea? An interesting idea, although Rundle Street and what is now Rundle Mall was considered too small for a tramline and so Grenfell St was laid ...

Re: Development on Westend railyards
People seem to be forgetting that the interstate trains aren't just passenger journeys. Each trip of the Ghan & Indian Pacific carries both freight and passengers cars aswell as passengers. The Overland to Melbourne does not take passengers vehicles but does take freight. So the Keswick sight i...

Re: Development on Westend railyards
Will409 is right about having 13 platforms, but when the station was built it was designed to have up to 20 platforms should the need be there at some stage. The ASER project has Adelaide station up, It is now a cave of overcrowded platforms disel fumes and no room to expand.

Re: Guards for 'trap doors' on our trains
Remember some of the Red Hen railcars just about made it to 40 before being retired, There’s some good old South Australian design work for you. All but one of the 2000/2100 fleet is in service. I would prefer to travel on a 2000/2100 class railcar anyway because they are safer in the event of an ...

Wouldn't somthing this big be dangerous for development in Adelaide? We would have such a surplus of office space it wouldn't be funny.

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
There was no such thing as median strips back in Adelaide pre 1958 Therefore trams going round corners didnt crash into them, if the contractors did use the old curve diagrams they forgot to remember that point.

104 made the first trip down to City West at walking pace with no drama's and then returned to Victoria Square. 104 then backshunted at the points in vic sq and returned to Rundle Mall to test the cross over with no drama's and returned. The H set then made their first run down the line with the doo...
