[DEF] Re: AAMI Stadium to recieve a $100million facelift

Yep, location is crap and the seating arrangements are such that nothing short of demolition and rebuilding will fix that. Hence why I now declare that the official slogan for AAMI and arguing for upgrading it is:

"You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter"

[DEF] Re: AAMI Stadium to recieve a $70million facelift

Here we have a stubborn and power-hungry state football league that wants to renovate their stadium that was GIVEN to them for FREE While the SANFL is very stubborn and conservative, they did buy and pay for Football Park themselves. That a brand-new stadium would be the major catalyst for increase...

Re: NRL, SA entry?

Lateline Business just reported tonight that the NRL is losing money, while the AFL is raking in cash. Rugby will die because there's two competing codes - I mean who outside of NSW or QLD knows WTF Super XIV is? LOL, there was a former NRL club president on the Lateline report saying it is ridiculo...

Re: Planning SA - PT Usage Statistics, etc

Another interesting site is http://www.atlas.sa.gov.au - a Google Maps type application that allows you to view all sorts of government data.

I wonder what the situation will be like at Christmas considering more rate rises are being tipped by then?

Re: Recent Earthquakes in SA

6km high! wow, thanks for the geology lesson - very interesting indeed! A lot of ore bodies in outback SA are found within "palaeochannels", which are ancient riverbeds that have since been covered by tens or hundreds of metres of sediment. The Beverley Uranium mine near Lake Frome is lea...

It will fail just like it did before. Thugby is only played in NSW and QLD. Everywhere else, aussie rules dominates and rightly so.

Re: Recent Earthquakes in SA

Since when did we have earthquakes?... I'm not a geologist, but I'd say at least since the Adelaide Geosyncline started being folded up into the Flinders and Mt Lofty Ranges. (It's estimated that parts of the southern Flinders Ranges used to be as much as 6km high. They're not anymore, and their er...

Re: More Ridiculous NIMBY News

I thought parks were there for the public to use? Next thing you know they'll be trying to get rid of the sporting fields and shutting down festivals like Schutzentfest. :wank:

Re: 08/09 state budget announcements

This State Budget better include a major improvement to the train network, or I wont be a happy camper. Theres going to be a huge increase in public transport usage especially if petrol prices continue to go to ridiculous levels. Don't hold your breath. All the nice and exciting items will be annou...

Re: Noarlunga Centre - Seaford railway extension report

Nice find Will409! If only they hadn't torn up the marino-willunga line :-( Yeah a bit of a shame really, considering that it goes through a lot of suburbs now (Reynella, Morphett Vale, Hackham) and would be good for servicing the Woodcroft and Happy Valley area with rail. The reserved route for the...

Re: Adelaide/Darwin Railway up for sale!

Yeah, there's no way the line will be closed as it's of extreme strategic importance. Plus freight volumes are continuing to grow so it will soon be profitable. It's just a piece of infrastructure that can't pay for itself immediately, but has major long-term spin-offs that will more than pay for it...

[COM] Re: Oaklands Park Interchange

I saw this a couple of weeks ago when in town. I'm not impressed by it at all. Too many missed opportunities to have done something really great there. For what it is, it has taken far too long to build. Hell, in the time it's taken to build that a 15 storey office block has gone up around the corne...
