Re: Proposed - Bay Junction re-development - Glenelg -$60million
I hope the new development both modernises the lacklustre 'mall' and enhances the wonderful character of the cinemas, especially the lobby areas. The crappy seats in the theatres can go, but please, leave the lovely Art Deco-esque architecture and delightful carpeting and light fittings in the spiri...

[U/C] Re: New three-storey wing for Flinders Medical Centre
Wow, the original buildings of FMC are fantastically dull. Good to hear of this expansion - the design reminds me of the new buildings at UniSA. Also, the increase in emergency department capabilities by 14,000 people per year is a hell of a jump - as long as people with relatively minor afflictions...

Yes, I like the larger windows better, too.Mants wrote:im guessing that the little square windows are those of the bathrooms, however, i would rather see them use tinted or frosted glass and larger windows, like the first proposal.

Thank goodness the western skyline will have some more windows, rather than lift cores.
Not a fan of the lttle square windows, and what a shame about the filling-on of the roof blades. Still, it's great to see this building back in the news.

Re: Port Hughes - The Dunes Development
That's a hell of a development for a town the size of Port Hughes. Done properly, it ought to be quite a desirable destination for travellers. I would hope there are some clever water storage measures beyond just sinking the odd bore here and there - starting from scratch, they have the chance to co...

Priceless.

[COM] Re: #UC: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers
I think you'll find that behind the 7 storey apartments and underneath the towers there will be retail sections. I heard a Coles central is to open at the Balfours precinct once complete. Excellent. Of course, I'd rather a Foodland that stocks items other than Coles homebrands, with all those faces...

Note the application type is "assessed on merit" The developers did a private PAR for this project, which essentially means they wrote the development plan for their own development. They obviously haven't complied with their own development plan otherwise the application type would be co...

Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Very classy shot - well framed, good lighting and distance - with the government bldgs behind you would almost think it was European. I hope they use the H class for ages yet. They add a totally different presence to the flexity trams ADELAIDE - A CITY ON THE MOVE. Yes. We must never, never, never ...

[COM] Re: Approved: 20 Hindmarsh Square (15 lvl Hotel, 14 lvl Apartmen
Looking at the daytime view from the south-east corner of Hindmarsh Square, it makes more sense as to why the Rundle Convergence light panels are only going to cover 30% of the carpark building - a large portion will be covered by this new development, and an expected future development on the site ...

That's a nice little sweetener; an admission that Adelaide's tall buildings are desirable to so many more than just the workers or residents within. For that alone, this building deserves to be taller than Westpac.

[COM] Re: SGIC Refurbishment
This is magnificent news. The SGIC building is in my opinion one of the ugliest high-rises in Adelaide. I really dislike how it makes such a strong presence of the western skyline view. Re-cladding this brown monolith in glass, will make a very big difference to the western skyline view. It will ma...

Those views of Hindmarsh Square look fantastic! Just as long as the proposed apartments and hotel rooms have sufficient sound insulation to support the continuation of my Saturday night noisefest, all the better.
