[COM] Re: South Rd Upgrades - News & construction ONLY | U/C: Supe
if it cost $800 mill approx for a stretch aprox 3km how much money and timeframe would it take to do the rest, unfort it may take at least another 10 years to be completed :( It depends on what they do for the rest of South Road. This bit cost $800 million because of what it is, an elevated highway...

Re: Premier and PCA to launch CBD Vision : City of Lights vi
I just read this document. There are some really good recommendations in there, particularly in relation to alternative funding models for precinct upgrades and dedicating a portion of the Open Space Levy for parklands enhancements. It was good to seeing Jay Weatherill attending the launch ... assum...

Re: #VIS: CBD Tram Loop
I'm not against the idea of a City Loop in any way - but I don't think the CBD has the traffic to justify splashing millions and millions on such a layout. It's not quite justified, logically speaking. Why? * You need to get people into the CBD via tram, first. So this means constructing tramlines ...

I think we are definitely going to see a lot more CBD investment. I am hoping that the Government follows a similar approach along transit corridors (i.e. part of the structure plans). However, we need to remember what makes Adelaide great, and it's not skyscrapers. Good design and strong community...

Re: #VIS: CBD Tram Loop
The image above, which was released earlier today, shows the State Government's preferred route for a future city tram loop. From the West Terrace tram stop, the route will travel along West Terrace, Currie Street, Morphett Street, Sturt Street, Halifax Street, Carrington Street, Regent Street, Fro...

Fantastic proposal! I like this one even better than the curvy Flinders street one. Amazing to think that these height limit changes have increased the max building height for this site from 8 to 27 storeys! Just hope it sees the light of day .... Adelaide deserves much better-designed and innovativ...

Re: CBD Development: Planning / City Height Limits Overhaul
All we need now is an announcement on stamp duty exemption for multi storey apartments and the CBD will have all the necessary ingredients for explosive growth! This is really important the building height changes will only benefit the supply side for residential apartments, we need something to fir...

Re: #VIS: CBD Tram Loop
It's a good idea, but I don't get what's with all the nooks and turns and weird side streets; i.e. West Terrace, Currie Street, wrapping around Light and Whitmore Squares, Carrington Street, Frome Street, etc. What's so wrong with a simple loop - in a dead straight line, cutting through the squares...

Re: CBD Development: Planning / City Height Limits Overhaul
It seems the key here is what the CASA regulations say. Is this published anywhere?
Surely this is the first place you would now look if you were planning a very tall building?

Re: CBD Development: Planning / City Height Limits Overhaul
Keep in mind.. the big announcement hasn't come yet. :) Care to drop us a hint? Does it have anything to do with a tram loop? BTW I think this is absolutely brilliant news. The City Design Panel will do more to lift the bar on high quality design than anything else. Bye bye boring beige boxes!

[APP] Re: APP: 399 King William Street | 46m | 15 LVS | Student Ap
A quick look at the plans tells you these are still student apartments ... God awful ones at that. They just happen to be shared 2 and 3 bed student apartments. Bedrooms and Living area are pokey, and in my opinion, barely habitable. You have to walk through the bathroom to get from the bedroom to t...

[CAN] Re: #VIS: BHP Tower - $250 million
Could be perfect timing too with the increased height limits due soon. Fingers crossed we get a new tallest. The planets seem to be aligning on a landmark tower, with a strong possibility of a new tallest. In my opinion, this is our best chance for a new tallest for the next 10 years. If we don't g...

Re: Airport transport access (split from news thread)
I personally do not ever think a train line would ever stack up on a cost benefit analysis. What people forget is the distance between our airport and the CBD. It is a mere 7km. I don't think we could justify spending so much money to save travellers 2-3 minutes. Train lines work in other cities be...
