Re: M1 South-Eastern Freeway

Aside for the lining repairs (is it that critical?) the other stuff is just bells and whistles on what is already a highly engineered very short tunnel. I would have thought there were more pressing road projects to address.

No it shouldn't. Obahn carries more people per day than heavy rail can at full capacity.

Not even remotely true.

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

Part 27 is one of the most “natural” of all the parklands - about as bad a choice as Park 21 in that regard: https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/08/07/not-optimal-commissioners-frustration-over-police-horse-relocation/ I’m trying to understand why SAPOL have such strict requirements for the proximity ...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

The issue is, not so much if the 36ers choose to play there or not, but given it’s stated capacity of 8-9000.. and if the owners are spending $20 million, they will be poaching concerts, and larger netball games etc that as a city, we need to decide if continued car dependence is the way to go? If t...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Plans are being submitted for a $20mil upgrade of the old 36ers arena at Findon, to become a “sporting and events Mecca” sorry, but this just makes no sense to me, given the lack of public transport, or other food and entertainment venues nearby, or even adequate road access. Surely a venue proposin...

[COM] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Not sure where to post this, but I note with dismay, they are still flogging that dead horse at Findon, the 36ers arena? Is it true? There could not be a worse location, tucked away off of a main arterial, hemmed in by low density housing with bugger all transport links. If true tge state government...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Look at this.....the Coburg train station in Melbourne rebuilt in the style of an Art Deco cinema! Bloody brilliant urban renewal and transport upgrade at the same time ! I bet you all the whingers who lived in the area weren't complaining when their house values rose by 50k as soon as the train st...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

The O-Bahn concrete track has reached its original expected lifespan by its German engineers, and a complete replacement will be required, less the safety, speed and performance is continually eroded. Failure of a concrete kerb causing derailment would obviously be catastrophic, and just patching th...

How much was the redevelopment of the Oaklands train station with the full cover over the top? How do they justify a proper cover for a station near a shopping centre, but they wont stump up the money to properly do it in an area the government wants to push substantial population and economic grow...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

Why couldn't light rail begin at the Port Duck spur line, and continue around the inner harbour area of Port Adelaide and extend out to Semaphore? The Port is ideal for apartment buildings and that type of life style. Instead we have a mix of industrial, commercial, run down buildings and a large p...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line

For it's mainly Pirate Life, and perhaps rail fans headed to the National Railway Museum that will use this station. Based on where it's positioned its hardly taking passengers into the "heart of Port Adelaide" and is a lot of money to rebuild a fairly insignificant spur line, considering...

What is is with Adelaide, that when a relatively tall building is constructed, it is generally boxy, but the shorter ones are all angles, curves and top notch glass facades? This should have been much taller-given its prime location, WITH the finish presented here. At least we seem to have moved awa...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Those 6 rail lines, 2 tram lines, and o bahn, how many people are actually not within a reasonable distance to actually make use of those forms of public transport? How inconvenient is it for the majority to use these forms of public transport? That's where the measure should be, not on how many we...
