Re: Overweight trams morphing into trains

Adopting a skip-stop pattern for Grange/Outer Harbor/Grange and Flinders/Seaford will achieve a similar thing. For example, Grange trains could stop at Adelaide, Bowden, West Croydon, Woodville Park, Woodville, while Outer Harbor trains stop at Adelaide, Bowden, Croydon, Kilkenny, Woodville. Flinder...

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects

Moonta St, Gawler Pl connecting to Rundle Mall, and Bank street have the same design as this one with the road at the same height. Have not felt that any of those were unsafe, much the opposite really. Moonta St is a pedestrian mall with no traffic, Gawler place North is a dead end with no traffic....

Luigi Rossi was on 5AA this morning and discussed rail services to Mt Barker with the trial apparently happening soon, and services beyond to Tailem Bend, as well as Strathalbyn, Victor Harbor, Riverlea and Angle Vale.

Re: News & Discussion: Regional Transport

$700 million seems too little to rebuild and regauge the 700 km or so long network. If they want to connect it to Whyalla, that would add another 150 km and the connection itself would be over $700 million. Iron Road has mentioned they might connect their mine to Whyalla by rail. If that happens, th...

Unless they buy back the poles and wires, it won't make a difference. Poles and wires are a monopoly, there's no easy money to make in the other stuff.

Are there plans to host any games for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics? A few soccer games were played there for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Kate Cocks Park and the park between Gaol Road and the railway are owned by SAPOL. So even though it's not "park lands", most of the land this new hospital will be built on is currently parks. One of the oversights in reporting on this is that these parks are not considered "park land...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

Qatar is currently flying a second daily flight which is detouring to and from Adelaide after arriving in Melbourne, however it doesn't appear to be taking passengers from Adelaide. I believe this is a temporary compliance arrangement for Qatar until it goes back to the planned Doha-Melbourne-Canbe...

This new hospital will have a helipad...and this is the path planes take when landing on runway 23 at Adelaide Airport. Politicians occasionally talk about building a second airport, so this will add to the excuses to do it. ypad-23.png According to the ILS chart for rwy 23 aircraft should be aroun...

That was bound to happen to the museum. There's room to the south for the museum to expand, but I don't think they control that land.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I saw a guy waiting at the pedestrian crossing at Islington station. He was waiting behind a mile long freight train. The freight train was moving at about 3 miles per hour because it was pulling into the freight depot. He could have been waiting for 20 minutes. This highlights the need for grade s...

This is great news. Over the last year, 66 % of the grid in SA was powered by renewables. Over the last seven days, it was 80 %! This website is useful for seeing what's powering the grid: https://opennem.org.au/energy/sa1/?range=7d&interval=30m It's better than the AEMO website because it inclu...
