[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway
North of underpass: 46k In underpass: 36k South of underpass: 51k Source: LocationSA (2017 data) Thanks. That implies that the underpass see's 2/3 to 3/4 of the traffic compared to other nearby sections. That would likely imply that while 2 lanes either direction is low for a freeway, it's unlikely...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway
With all this discussion on how many lanes Gallipoli Underpass needs to be, does anyone know the traffic volumes the underpass currently sees compared to the rest of South Road? Given the amount of entering and exiting traffic I wouldn't be surprised if the underpass sees less traffic passing throug...

[COM] Re: 269 North Terrace | 118m | 36 Levels | Student accommodation
To be honest, I hope this one doesn't happen. Adelaide finally gets a new tallest (sad but true, something we will be judged by) and we get a student accom building built just metres away. For hotel guests and apartment owners facing North, they'll be looking straight at this thing.... built right ...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway
The Anzac Highway/South Road intersection is pretty much the primary point for traffic entering/leaving South Road. On those grounds they may think that 2 lanes each way through the underpass is enough. Going down to 2 lanes at that point also allows merging traffic to enter and turn the road back i...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
Ten years to plan a suitable replacement. By that point, hopefully, Adelaide's retail sector will have firmly sprawled out of Rundle Mall and further into surrounding streets. In which case, I can see this being an ideal location for a mixed used retail precinct. Engineering these days would allow ...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city
Personally I think Hindmarsh is a perfect location for a soccer stadium. If Adelaide were any other city (i.e. the parklands weren't there) it would be considered a prime inner city location anyway. This is something people tend to forget. For context, Coopers Stadium is closer to Adelaide train st...

Re: Shift Hindmarsh Stadium into the city
OK I don't think a new stadium should have been in lieu of the new state of the art hospital or research center. ut why not have a rectangular stadium somewhere near AO? It will add quite a lot to the city in terms of an entertainment precinct. What problem is a new city rectangular stadium solving...

That said, it would be nice to see something noticeably bigger than Westpac proposed. What happened to "the vision formerly known as DOMINATOR 1"? I'm hopeful that CDJ would let us know if the project was dead, apparently it was in "pre-lodgement" in July last year. SA1 (as it i...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council
According to an article on InDaily , the Rundle Street U-Park requires substantial maintenance to extend its useful life. The interesting takeaway from the article is that the urgent works are expected to guarantee its serviceability for only another 10 years. Which raises the question, at what poi...

[U/C] Re: North-South Motorway
The additional turning lane heading south into the new Bunnings at Edwardstown is almost complete. The Bunnings is so close to South Road there is no scope for widening. Why this was approved is beyond my comprehension :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: It seems silly, but at the same time that secti...

Re: Urban Beach
A bit off topic, but what would be awesome is if a diversion tunnel river channel thingy was built from tuhe King William Street Bridge to just below the Torrens Weir to allow for natural flow of the river and then convert the two Torrens river / lake segments into what would basically be massive r...
