Re: News: Adelaide City Council

On a related note, the Collaborative City exhibition was opening tonight at Tuxedo Cat. It's basically a showcase of the work the Integrated Design Commission and 5000+ have done over the past year. There are a lot of things there about what could be done in Adelaide covering all areas of the city,...

Re: Little ideas for a big city

That is a really good idea! Shall we start by identifying those things, then? Everyone should contribute - I'll start. Just simply re-quote each persons post to add your own. East End Rundle Street 1. Chocolate indulgence at Cocolat, whenever the mood suits! 2. Watch some arty-fancy pretentious movi...

[PRO] Re: #ONH: Westfield Marion Expansion | $350m | 19,200sqm

I really like the idea of the 10 shops/restuarants along Diagonal Road. I'm no fan of big suburban shopping malls that suck the life out of traditional main/high streets, but I'm supportive of Westfield Marion's attempt to bring some life into one!

Well, I like it. It's simple but effective. There's an even balance of glass vs. sandstone for each of the other to stand out. As for the blank wall on the third level, it's a good prime spot for billboards, video screens, or even just a good old fashioned neon light display of Santa and his merry r...

An underpass is very much like a trench. Maybe that's the connection they were going for?

Re: #U/C | Port Stanvac Desalination Plant | $1 Billion

You can understand why people would be pissed off after hearing this news. Water bills are just ridiculous now. Another reason why Labor has no chance at the next State Election. Funnily, SA Water claim that the silver lining is that water bills will actually drop by an average $100 a year because ...

Understandably, there is a lot of commuter frustration with regards to the shutdown of the Noarlunga line once again, but as 85trainfan pointed out, the Government have actually got it right and are undergoing all the project works at once. This should be applauded, rather than criticised. I encoura...

Re: Is it too late to save the Port?

most pointless development.. ever. bringgg backkkk newwwwporttttttt queysssssss! No, just no. Newport Quays has been a monumental failure. It's a massive ugly gated community with absolutely no street level activation whatsoever. This is exactly the sort of development that should be discouraged. H...

No wonder people demolish things in the middle of the night without approval. Its rubbish listings etc like this that encourages it. As far as im aware (correct me if im wrong) this has been approved for demolition and the hotel approved for construction (I am aware that this is the adjoining site)...

Re: ## General Public Transport thread

Slightly off the current line of topic, but what do two-section tickets/fares/whatever actually achieve? What is their purpose? Particularly in Adelaide; it just seems like a way to make our transport system look more 'advanced' than it currently is. +1, I completely agree. It's only purpose is to ...

Re: North-South Corridor

An elevated freeway seems to have gone down okay in both Sydney and Melbourne - the section of CityLink which cuts through residential areas in North Melbourne, and the part of the M4 Western Distrubutor cutting through residential Pyrmont. Alternatively, I'd suggest to reserve a corridor through th...
