[COM] Re: SAHMRI Stage 2

Seems kind of odd to fill the hole back in when they have to dig right through it again to make the deep concrete basement for the proton therapy equipment

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Finally another one of those "simple and obvious ways to make public transport better in Adelaide" ideas has made it through to the top tiers of government. (The other and most obvious example of this is the Flinders train line, first proposed in 1969......reality in 2020) Let me take a g...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

The stations are bargain basement compared to Oaklands, and they continue to have at grade pedestrian crossings, nothing but the cheapest for anything that isn't about cars from the State Liberal Government as per usual

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

If the South Australian government had allowed an AFL hub to be established in Adelaide (instead of letting the Qld government doing it) then the Grand Final would probably have come to Adelaide. The AFL did not want to establish a hub in Adelaide, they demanded open borders. Neither Adelaide nor P...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Doesn't make much sense that they'd introduce another noise wall design; R2P is only 1km and connects the Superway with the T2T. Since the Superway doesn't have noise walls, using the T2T design helps keep an element of flow. I agree with differentiating the larger sections but not for a short conn...

15/8/2020 sound barrier on the east side of the Pym St pedestrian overpass has a different shape compared to such walls used up till now. This new wall has a ripple pattern. Please click on pictures for bigger. Doesn't make much sense that they'd introduce another noise wall design; R2P is only 1km...

It's not meant to be exclusive for sports teams all the time, I mean they're already going to struggle massively to make a profit so why would they shoot themselves in the foot extra hard by turning away any paying customers, but I'd wager it will be when the Indian Cricket Team hits town whether th...

Re: 250 homes to be demolished for 650 new ones

So let's bulldoze 250 run down homes, that if renovated might actually have some character in favour of building 650 shit looking shoeboxes that in twenty years will look terrible. Great idea. These developments all depend on the quality of the landscaping and public shared treatments. If the housi...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy

What background or knowledge does Corey have in transport systems and planning? Absolutely zero. A minister shouldn't need to, instead relying on the expertise and advice of senior apolitical public servants within their portfolio to inform their decision making. Out here in the real world though :...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I found this image http://sar.4mg.com/brighton/sth_brighton.JPG My best guess is the station was just south of Shoreham Road. Looks like just north of Shoreham Rd to me, the image on that site is looking south, which would make it as far away from old Brighton station and Seacliff as Marino and Mar...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

There's 2 others gone as well. This is only the tip of the iceberg that's made it to the public because someone stuffed up and it couldn't be swept under the rug. The level of corruption in politics, across all the main parties (Greens included) would blow most peoples minds. Jobs for the "fam...

The corner of Park Avenue and Christie Way next to the Aberfoyle Hub, which has been a Mitre 10 of some stripe as long as I've been alive, has been demolished, and construction of a new OTR is in progress.

It is also around the corner from a Caltex.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Many of the stations had ticket offices / kiosks incorporated into their concrete central shelters. From the Gawler line in the mid 1980s I can remember Broadmeadows, Womma, Elizabeth and Elizabeth South all had these. In about 1987-88, the STA embarked upon a "station improvement programme&qu...

[VIS] Re: New inner-city stadium

Yesterday SA Treasurer Rob Lucas has confirmed that because of falling GST revenues, as a result of COVID-19, long term projects that they had not committed to or funded like the 1.3b inner city sports stadium would not be affordable in the immediate future. :( I for one am shocked that the Liberal...
