[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
He can reccomend it all he likes, it's not going to happen. It's not like the idea never occurred to previous governments, the problem is there's no profit in it because everyone will just drive on the existing parallel roads to save a buck, so a private operator won't take it on. I know someone wh...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Making South Road a toll-road would be incredibly counter productive. As the government says, man people will just avoid it, so the surface level roads will be almost as congested. On top of that the traffic volumes make the amount that tolls could recover a small fraction of the overall project co...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams
[ Then again the way our state politics runs, it could drag out to the 2030 election and a blame game of who let the diesel trains reach the end of life without a solution. Agreed, and then the most likely outcome then will be to just close Grange spur.and Belair..and bung some wires along OH line w...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
Random brain fart. Is anyone aware if any studies ever having been done into how O-Bahn style infrastructure could be used in other ways? For example could you make something that straddles the line between bus, tram, and monorail using raised O-Bahn guiding tracks? Richmond Road could have one abo...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
The main issue is with the usability of the connections. From the airport to head north on the motorway you have to remember to head south to Richmond rd and join the motorway there. To head south you have to remember to head north to Sir Donald Bradman to then join the motorway from there. Ok I'm ...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
No comments as to whether an elevated or sunken motorway the length of the remaining NSM would be cheaper, but would have to ask why we would want to go down that path? The answer may lie in what makes Adelaide unique, or dare I say "special", and like or not there is a ring of inner subu...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
I am saying that, there are increasing instances where there is not enough energy being produced, to satisfy all users I don't think you've demonstrated this. What evidence have you that energy users are worse off now (in supply terms) than the historical average? Have already provided 2 specific i...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Really? Which companies/facilities shut down for demand management in winter, and what compensation did they receive? I understand that agreeing to be part of load management can result in lower contract prices for the supply the rest of the time. In the brick making industry alone-Boral and Brickm...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Demand management is quite different to load shedding - which is when a suburb is turned off for 45 minutes if there is a real shortage of generation, See https://www.sapowernetworks.com.au/outa ... -shedding/ and https://www.energymining.sa.gov.au/__da ... g-list.pdf My impression is that most dem...

Labor and Liberal Party policy to be 100% renewables by 2030....I think it will be earlier. Labour and Liberal policy is to be NET 100% there is a difference...is is not possible with current technology to be 100% renewable ie 100% generation 100% of the time- regardless of how many wind turbines o...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Great. Yet we're still paying excessive electricity bills. I wonder when the preaching about it will stop and we will start seeing what's being preached. If ever. We still have people complaining that the transmission and distribution networks are not completely stormproof. That requires continuing...
