Re: Beer Garden

Fond of the portraits of early outlaws popping up all over the city? Here's a lovely little video from the guy responsible:

Re: #ONH: Newport Quays | [ Port Adelaide Waterfront ]

So the reasons might be ugly and political, but the outcome should be good, if the government is serious about good design. However, remember that the same government, its LMC and most of the same personnel were very closely involved in the now previous development. The government might be the same...

Re: New Retail in the CBD

Anyone know what's going where Cafe Primo use to be on the corner of Rundle and East Tce? It seems it's finally leased after a long vacancy.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Convention Centre, Casino & Riverbank Developme

The building proposals are only conceptual at this stage, although it's fair to say that as far as conceptions go, these are pretty limited. The set of guiding principles seem reasonable enough, but I am disappointed with the master plan for two reasons in particular. First, that there isn't an emph...

Re: #H/D: Adelaide Saltpans | ~80,000h | 4000ha

There's very little about the Gold Coast that I would want to see replicated anywhere.

And I'm confused pushbutton; either I missed the part where anyone mentioned theme parks, or you're absolutely obssesed.

[COM] Re: #Vis 122 Grenfell Street - Hotel

IMO, it also doesn't respond very well to its situation adjacent to the heritage Adelaide Arcade; another design showing architects in this state really need to lift their game. But that said, it would a huge improvement on the shitty little discount souvenir store presently there. Hopefully, someth...

[COM] Re: #U/R: Colonial Mutual Building > Rydges Hotel

From the City Messenger: Mr Evans said amendments to the existing approved plans would be lodged with the City Council within days, including for using the basement for a kitchen, bar and retail space, instead of a food court. That sounds like a much better idea. And thank heavens something might f...

Re: #Official - UniSA CBD Developments

Absolutely fabulous. Good on UniSA for actually wanting architecture that contributes to the city.

By the by, all these extra developments and people in the west again highlights the utility of a western entrance to the railway station.

Re: CBD Development: Low/Mid-Rise

I think the Gilles Street development is already approved? I seem to recall something about it having gone to court after council refused it for some of the same reasons mentioned above -- that it overlooks the primary school. Or I am just imagining things.
