Re: Glenelg Tram Line Upgrade
Wow, thats awesome. Its not much power, but its a positive step. I wonder why none of this was mentioned earlier. Think of all the open skylights in shopping centres, this is something they should all consider also. I wonder what they are worth. No, we should have more skylights, not solar panel gl...

Seven are full of shit. They ask one idiot on the side of the road, an idiot counsellor, and have a little whine.

[COM] Re: #Article: Expressway Pledge (Howard)
You can't really make South Road a freeway, with the expressway being just one-way Though it should of never been one-way in the first place!, stupid liberals We get lumped with several billion dollars of debt, and the Liberals still managed to be able to afford a piece of infrastructure. "Stu...

Re: #Article: Giving the city a miss
It's often quicker to whiz straight through the city in peak hour than brave the monstrosity that is Greenhill Road.

Re: About SA's previous debt!!
The Liberals will always be declaring war against the public service. Not on the basis that the public service is inherently "bad", but because they believe that community organisations or business can deliver services more effectively than government. So they're always looking to trim it ...

Re: About SA's previous debt!!
Credit rating = "Ability to pay interest" Simple. You could be in a massive amount of debt, but if you can service the interest, you will get a high credit rating. I wonder how much interest South Australia is paying every year?--money that could be spent on infrastructure if we hurried up...

Re: About SA's previous debt!!
We still have a very high level of state debt, but we remain in a position where we are able to pay interest on it (hence the AAA rating). I'm not sure where to find the figures. but I'm estimating it is around $5-7 billion in today's dollars (which are very different in value from 1993 dollars).

[U/C] Re: #article: PM hints at South Rd funding
Keating approved funding for the Adelaide-Crafers Highway, lost office, and then John Howard opened it years later.

I'd name it after the Highway Commissioner who died when it was announced that the freeway reserve was going to be sold. He had a heart attack and carked it, poor bastard.

The O-Bahn was built with allowance for electric cables to be added--for trolleybuses (electric powered).

Re: Would you use tolled roads??
Should be a flat toll ($5?) for use of the collector ("outer") lanes.
This idea is genius; should contact the govt. already!

Re: Would you use tolled roads??
I'd expect the "outer lanes" to be 80-100km/h depending on the congestion of the area (or even having speed-adjustable signage), while the "inner lanes" would be 110km/h the whole way. The point of the collector-express system would be to penalise commuters (or simply make them p...

Re: Would you use tolled roads??
Why not have a... separated freeway (collector / express)--like they do in some US and Canadian cities? Two lanes of the freeway to be used for city access (tolled), and two lanes to be used as a cross-city bypass (untolled)--assuming it's four-lane each direction. The city access lanes have exits /...

Re: Would you use tolled roads??
We should have tolled roads built for freight and cross-city transport.
The toll freeways should be designed for this, and not made in any way for commuters.
So, yes, toll freeways, assuming they are not for commuters and the tolls are fair.

From KWS to the Hutt St precinct, out to Norwood along the Parade, turn north at Penfolds Winery, then finish at St Bernards Road, opposite Magill Uni.
Perfect.
