Re: Sporting facility or Hospital???

Having a sporting stadium at the Clipsal site in Bowden would not benefit the Adelaide city much at all in my opinion. Like Hindmarsh stadium and the Entertainment Centre it is just a bit too far away to make an impact. People drive to Hindmarsh, and after events you don't see people flocking to the...

Re: #Article: Heaven can wait: SA needs more people now!

Ide be following very carefully, even though i think that achieving 2million people in the next 10 years is a little laughable.... Im struggling with the concept that people from the eastern seaboard and to the North of Australia, would move en mass to Adelaide. Mass migration won't help in my opin...

[COM] Re: What next for Victoria Square?

Oh dear, let me reiterate that cities of over a million are large cities. Adelaide has over 1 million people. And oh, how crazy to suggest a underground city loop. Only every 2nd city in the world has one, going through its CBD. I guess all these cities must be crazy, and I guess Adl with its dead ...

[COM] Re: What next for Victoria Square?

will have a look at this dragonfly bar, sounds good. Just regarding the prior posts, it irks me when I hear people going on about Adelaide not having the population to support projects. Can I just say that even by American standards, a city of over 1 million people constitutes a 'large city', so it...

Mass Transit systems don't cause traffic problems, cars do. Public transport reduces traffic congestion. Fact.

[COM] Re: Proposal: 20 Hindmarsh Square (15 lvl Hotel, 14 lvl Apartmen

I wonder if they'll be changing the road access to that corner with this development? Extremely doubtful. There is already road access to this site from the back (there is a small laneway adjacent Hungry Jacks). Both buildings would possibly share an underground carpark. You can see the laneway her...

Re: Academy Cinema to close

It turned into a entertainment venue "Higher Ground", but plans have been proposed for site (can't remember what for) Palace Nova Cinemas are taking it over and adding to their existing cinema facilities. Now there is a Cinema that is in the city is successful. But they do have a point of...

Re: Academy Cinema to close

I wonder if the reason for poor cinema patronage in the city is due to the poor quality of cinemas there and the low number of screens leading to lesser choices. I wouldn't really know to be honest but I think that would have something to do with it. And now there are cinemas everywhere in the subur...

Only the bit where you criticsed people who think that North West railyard location should be used for something more iconic than a hospital.

We have an outdated, poor quality, cramped hospital and all people can think about is putting an entertainment precinct on the proposed site instead. Sort of shows what people's priorities are  Settle. No one has said a new facility shouldn't be built. But just because something is related to...

Wrong location. I'm not sure where else it could go but that location should only be used for something more iconic, as everyone else has said. Unfortunately for such a large facility requiring good access to public transport there doesn't seem to be an obvious site that is readily available. Surely...

When down King William Street I saw that they had Australian flags all the way down the street but on closer inspection, a couple of the flags were New Zealand flags. I guess they ran out of Australian flags. Was it Anzac Day? Good question. I didn't think of that. It definately wasn't ANZAC...

BTW those KWS flagpoles will be relocated to Grote Street (apart of the redevelopment) - will make Grote St more of a grand entrance into the CBD and look really nice. When down King William Street I saw that they had Australian flags all the way down the street but on closer inspection, a couple o...

No, the Liberals attacked the Government over this.... I think that its really not going to be a problem, the curves at depot are sharper and there isnt much noise made and even though the trams go slower over these curves then they will a t the King William St/North Tce insection i really dont thi...

Planes tend to land into the wind Correct, but it has more to do with takeoff than landing. Planes take off into the wind, which in Adelaide's case usually means they take off heading west, over Glenelg. They take off into the wind to make the most of the wind moving over the wings. Of course, the ...
