Re: Index of Adelaide Projects (As of 17 September 2007)

#76 Post by AtD » Wed Oct 24, 2007 7:50 pm

Guys,

I'm sorry I haven't been updating this list of recent. The reason being I've had my partner create a neat little database. I've been spending every other spare moment I've had updating every entry ever (and boy, were some wrong!). There's still a few bugs, and I haven't copied across the projects outside the CBD yet.\

The reason I've had this database done is because maintaining this list has really become a chore, simply because its a clumsy piece of text with no interface. This new database has made updating entries a breeze already.

I'm posting it now because it doesn't look like I'll have time to finish this before our internet is cut and we move to Canberra. Hopefully I can 'borrow' some wireless somewhere in the mean time.

As usual, please let me know of any errors, and also any bugs! I know the sorting and the project relationships are a bit borked.

Cheers.

Top Work mate!! Looking fine there.

Wondering it it were possible to build a function to export the db entries as bulletin board code?

Thanks guys.

Howie, I'm sure it's possible. Another thing on the to-do list is to export the addresses as points for Google Maps, using their API.

Adelaide Projects List & Interactive Map

#80 Post by AtD » Wed Nov 28, 2007 6:51 pm

The project list has been replaced with a new sortable list. Not only does it make it easier for me to edit, it also allows the data to be integrated into the Google Maps API!

The list:

The map:

The coding of the map is not quite complete. I know of a few bugs, and have a few more features to add, such as colour-coded points. Not all of the projects on the list appear on the map yet.

Feedback appreciated! As before, please let me know of any errors or omissions here.

Sorry - added!

I don't have the site automatically add the projects to the map. it hands the address to the Google Maps GeoCode function, which returns a latitude and longitude. Sometimes the GeoCode function gives weird co-ordinates. I've had many appear somewhere in the USA! Because of this, it's set up so I have to review each point before it appears on the map.

We're in the process of writing a way so you can, at a glance, see which projects don't have map markers.

Awesome awesome awesome work mate. :) Very simple to use.

Just wondering in future versions, in the projects list could you add in a thumbnail photo next to the project?

We added the links to the Google Earth 3D models for ya Howie. Also a few cosmetic changes.

Brilliant.. noticed the tags are different for U/C, proposed etc.. nice one!

Just a small thing, can we get it to open links in a new window rather than the same window? that'll let us look at more than one at a time.

I'm not sure what you mean. You could always shift+click or ctrl+click.
