Indeed I do. A section of the carpark has been fenced off, with the contractors offices arriving there today. That's pretty much all for now :P.

The council has had some displays up in local shopping centres, showing the plans for the new library to be built along the old train platform next to the tourism and arts centre.

Meanwhile, a new basketball and netball stadium has been proposed.

Looks good. Hopefully Port Pirie/Port Augusta will be the next Newcastle/Gosford :)

The council has just announced plans to revamp the CBD. Plans to repave all footpaths with some landscape, and put all stobie poles and power lines underground.

Pretty much the same thing that's happening to Main Road. Entire CBD is expected to be completed by 2011.

Fantastic news! That will really change the rather tired look of Port Pirie's CBD into something fresh!

I was up in Pirie the other day and I got lost walking around town. :? lol. Some woman in one of the stores noticed that I was a bit lost and questioned if I was from the city or not. She had quite a bit to say about my fashion sense (fluro top & skinnies) and said that "I don't belong there".

Port Pirie is a nasty little place. Very brown and hideous. Did you know it has a tower taller than anything across the Adelaide metro? The chimney stack of its factory there rises 200m, and the Torrens Island towers rise 160m.

I believe that when that stack was built it was the tallest structure in Australia - possibly even the southern hemisphere.

Just a quick update on some stuff.

New Woolworths expansion is nearly complete; few more months and it's all done.

Likewise with the Centro expansion. Some of the new stores moving in: Flight Centre, a shoe store, jewelery store, another Subway, and EBGames just to name a few.

New skatepark is under construction just off the main road. All coming together really quickly, a few weeks and it looks like it'll all be complete.

Speaking of the main road, the main portion has been completed, recently resurfaced. Only the main road along the silos to go now.

Foreshore playground, public toilets, grass area and public events space is completed.

I'll try to get some photos soon. Probably on Monday.

I have also heard that a Hungry Jacks store will be part of the Centro Development. But not like normal hj's, instead opting for the city cross style of an express store. Its also way behind schedule. The steel framework is completed at the front. I doubt wether subway would go their, as they already have a subway in the cbd, and another store wouldnt get the patronage. Im wondering what the 2 mini-majors will be. I'll update the discussion if i get any more info. :)
