Perth - CBD Buildings & Construction
Hi All,
I was in the West a few weeks ago and took some pics of the Perth CBD. The amount of construction going on there is amazing! I see Perth as the City closest to Adelaide in size, but with skyscrapers. The Bank West Tower being a fantastic design and iconic centerpiece to this burgeoning city.
Here is some photospam for those of you playing at home. (Part 1)

Great pics love perth. Hopefully in the future adelaide can have some iconic skyscapers too.
Re: Perth - CBD Buildings & Construction
Every time the Perth people on SSC put photos on, it is always the same pics from the same spots over and over again. You have managed to get a different perspective that look great, especially the 1st eight

Re: Perth - CBD Buildings & Construction
Perth suburbia reminded me of Hallett Cove replicated four hundred times; all freeways, highways and median strips. The CBD seemed remarkably devoid of pedestrians, and lacking the distinctive character of Adelaide CBD streets.

Perth is the closest thing we have to an American city in Australia, probabably more so than Canberra. What I mean by this, is that the CBD may have nice, gleaming and tall skyscrapers, but after 5, the city is devoid of life. When you review such information, it makes you wonder why Adelaide gets criticized for being so 'boring', when in fact we are much more exciting than Perth.

If the ACC go by our plans and create a city that is alive well after night as well as buildings that aren't as short as Hobbits, Adelaide will truly become an iconic place!
I take back many of the things I said before 2010; particularly my anti-Rann rants. While I still maintain some of said opinions, I feel I could have been less arrogant. I also apologise to people I offended; while knowing I can't fully take much back.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Nightlife in Perth is concentrated around Northbridge, isn't it? Has anyone been - what's it like there? Will wrote:I actually want to pat you on the head.Omicron wrote:Perth suburbia reminded me of Hallett Cove replicated four hundred times; all freeways, highways and median strips. Thats actually true. Northbridge seems to be the only real hub of activity other than the Casino at night. The CBD itself is largely a ghost town after business hours.
The comments that we hear about Adelaide being dull etc are also echoed in the West. There was a news story on the TV about a huge Ferris Wheel they they are planning on erecting on the shore of the Swan. The Channel 7 news reporter even said that the Ferris Wheel would help shake Perths reputation as a 'dull and lifeless city'.
.... Also found it quite amusing that the Ferris Wheel would only be in place for 2 years and the main reason that they were going to erect it was becuase the Mayor of Perth said "...because I like Ferris wheels." lol

Haven't been to Perth since the late 80's when I was a kid, the buildings of the CBD still look the same.. a modern and clean city though..I remember quite liking Perth
Surely there would be some night life down in Fremantle?? or Rottnest island
