place that building

http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an24189433-v

Referred to as " Part of Hindmarsh Sqr. & Grenfell St., Second Congregational Church, [Adelaide, South Australia, ca. 1866]"

Any ideas where this building was exactly? And what was it originally replaced with?

The presence of hills in the background narrows the location to 3 possibilities for mine:

The site of the abandoned RAA building (Conservatory on Hindmarsh)

The site of Admiral House (UC)

The site of the 3 low rise office buildings across the road from the Griffens Head pub.

Anyone know for sure? Either way, it's a loss. No doubt someone in the period labelled its destruction as progress.

That church once occupied the site across from the Griff. It was demolished in the early 1970's to make way for Wolf Blass House.

Hard to imagine that that picture was taken in the CBD!
